That sounds like fun. Sadly it just felt that the car and the wheels where attached only loosely....

It was slippy today. I was driving down from Malvern and a bloke pulled out onto the other side of the road in a Hilux and promptly spun it right across the road and ended up in front of me.

AHHH! The 'I have a 4WD, so snow doesn't bother me'
<realises that the Shiteco summer tyres don't actually change the laws of physics....>

I have a bit of sympathy, it was probably in 2wd and with nothing in the back Hiluxs are sketchy as **** but he shouldn’t have been using full throttle, it was from a standing start so he couldn’t have been doing more than 10 mph!

Most of my twitchy moments have been at <10 mph in the last few days.....

By coincidence I watched one of those carwow tests yesterday. An Audi A1 I think with winter tyres v a Q7 with summer tyres trying to climb that artificial snow run in MK. The A1 just went up it. The Q7 didn't get off the line the first test. Second test it managed a third of the way before all 4 wheels lost traction and it slid uncontrollably backwards.

I remember my first experience of winter tyres, hire car in Austria, picked it up from the airport, drive to the hotel, parked up and all 3 of us promptly fell on our arses getting out of the car. Couldn’t believe the level of grip they gave even on sheet ice.

Seen similar where a 2x4 and a 4x4 Kuga did the same at MK snowdome... same results.

Yes was in Sweden a few weeks ago. Guy driving a hire car was not hanging around with a light snow and ice on the road. Came to a bend and I was clenching. Went round without any issue. I was impressed. The clicking sound of the studs is quite relaxing too. Probably novelty factor.

But back to the QPV wheels for a moment...
I'm almost tempted, as I have some 19s and 20s, so with 18s as well, I might be able to find some tyres to fit.

I have 18s. Its not as easy to source as the 19s or higher. The issue is the rear not the front. For example kwik fit wouldn't stock rears but again not impossible to find.
