Firstly, my thanks to everyone for the kind comments on this thread about both the QP’s I’ve mentioned; I am most grateful for your support and encouragement.

Secondly, I have today collected the QP VI (on one of the filthiest days imaginable - but hey ho) and would like to say a public ‘thank you’ to Dick Lovett’s staff and especially the Maserati Sales Manager (Ross); it has been a pleasure doing business with them.

Now I just need a couple of dry days so that I can go out to play……..

Nice new Avatar as well Phil. Now, looking at that picture, who was it that was rude about the looks of a QP VI....?

LOL Ewan, touché - sort of.

IIRC I was rude about the decision to follow the herd into the fleet market, and especially with diesels. I think my comment was “If I wanted a BMW I’d buy a BMW” (anyway my feeble brain can’t reconcile Maserati and diesel). However, now and again a rose appears among thorns and we think we’ve found one.

We were pondering later cars when one that ticked a lot of boxes happened along in Rosso Folgore which is a cracking colour for a QP. If I’m honest, the interior of our QP V feels more special than the VI which is a bit sterile (aka modern) in comparison, but that’s not surprising given the target market for the latter. On the flipside, though, the V doesn’t quite have this profile:

Given that it’s not a diesel, and I love it, any disparaging comments previously directed at the QP VI must have been made by my evil twin!

That looks beautiful. Is it closer to red or purple on the colour spectrum?

I have one in that colour too! It's lovely! Vin Rouge aka Merlot special edition. This is more of a man's car than a QPVI though.

Purple, Chris, although it varies quite a bit according to the level and direction of sunlight, and it's darker than Bordeaux Pontevecchio which is closer to red. Both colours can look rather drab until the sun shines when they really 'pop'.

The pics I've posted were taken by DL in very strong sunlight.

Can't argue with that, lots of hairdressers are men and I'm sure they luuuurve Merlot :)

I wasn’t actually thinking of your comments Phil. It was more a general observation, as I think that many Maserati fans were slightly disappointed with the QP VI after the gorgeous QP V. But somehow your chosen VI just works. It’s amazing the difference a colour can have.

I know what you mean about the interior though. They could have tried harder, or offered a higher level of materials.

I look forward to seeing it one day. Maybe at Wilton come the spring?

The interior doesn't have the appeal of the V, or maybe we've been spoilt with ours, so I hope the new Maserati team can recover some brand exclusivity which is desperately needed. All things considered though, we were sold on the total package; a good looking younger car with known history, a Maserati warranty, and a decent price; for us it was too good to pass up.

Yes, we'll see you at Wilton, Ewan. I think we'll also do a couple of Haynes meets too as it's a nice run along the A303 and there's plenty of places to visit afterwards.

Any new additions toy your fleet yet? (I think the green Venturi is still up for grabs), and I do like this:

I wanted a QP in that colour, but when I went to look at one I didn't like it, too plum-coloured. I wish they'd done one in something like the the Alfa darker red like my old 166. Perfect shade for me.

loved your QP Ian and when you let me drive it at Llandow loved it even more. It was for sale a while back and I think someone on here bought it but they don't come on often.
