QP Sun Visor problem

Flipped the sun visor down and plastic arm that fits into the socket broke.

A new part is £317+VAT (thank you so much Maserati!)

Tried fixing it with some superglue. But I reckon the source of the problem is the spring loaded flip down/flip up. I think it's too stiff and that put too much strain the the plastic joint/elbow. (And hence my superglue repair did not work on when I tried to flip it down.)

Any ideas on how to loosen off the spring inside the sun visor?
Or any other ideas?IMG_0210.jpg

Hope you get it fixed. Funnily enough when I used my sun visor the other day the whole mirror bit with it's assembly fell out. Left dangling by the wires in my field of view on the motorway. Quality cars these...

That looks the same as the QPV

Mine was like that when I bought it... but the wires were broken too...

I fixed it by taking the plastic bit from the roof off, insulating the wires and tucking them away in the headlining.

The arm has a metal insert, which happens to be the perfect size to self tap a bolt into... that with a washer secures it to the plastic bit that fits to the headlining - result is... a sunvisor that swivels and flips and feels just like the original... downside is - no light in the vanity mirror.

Edit... sorry... that looks more like the one in my Alfa GT... which does exactly the same thing! Just falls out and gets in the way.
I'll have a look over the week and see if my masser fix works for that
