QP rear sun shade stuck

Got the car back from the paint shop with the news that the car has had a hissy fit
  • System not programmed
  • Airbag light
  • Rear sun shade opened

Battery was rather flat as the the doors etc had been left open for hours/days while they went about their business.

I've been charging the battery and reset the car by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery which miraculously seems to have resolved the first two problems so chuffed with that! However, the rear blind won't budge. Any ideas?

Also the battery has been charging for 24 hours now but indicator is only half full. Is the battery stuffed?

Hi Eb

My V has been run every few days but of late the starter was getting sluggish, then the battery died at the weekend. A long charge got the car running again albeit with the Air Bag warning, system error message, and central locking playing up.
A new Bosch S5 (£125) has everything back to normal, although it seemingly had to re-learn the central locking cycle and easy entry. The battery is a bit of a pig to change though.

Once a battery starts playing up it's not worth messing about as you never know when it will fail again, and sod's law says that when it does you'll wish you'd had hindsight in the first place.

Is the beastie looking good now?

I have an Aldi special which doesn't have a specific reconditioning setting. It says that if the voltage is less than 10.5V it automatically switches to impulse charging to pre-charge the battery to 10.5V and then back to the normal mode.
It says voltage is 12.5V but doesn't seem to be getting past half way on the charge level indicator.

But what about the blind?

Leaving the doors open for the battery to run down is down to the paintshop and they should replace the battery.

Urban myth or not once they are flat out empty as opposed to not enough charge to start they never last long especially for a battery sensitive car like a Maserati, From Halfords website for example ..Bear in mind that even if you manage to recharge or jump start your battery, its life may have been significantly shortened after a discharge - you may want to replace it at some point for a new one.

BTW, my son just fitted a brand new Lion battery to his Vivaro then called me as he still had problems and was contemplating all sorts of ills. A few basic checks suggested a duff (new) battery and that was confirmed by ECP when it was returned. A new Bosch battery solved all.

Yes - new battery is what I'll be doing.

I guess I'll just have to hope that we get sunny weather!

Actually I have a can of WD40 dry lube so might try that (on the shade)

Ok, but it does sound more like electronics.

I had a sunshade problem a while ago, where I was demonstrating the buttons and the sunshade shot up, totally crushing a rather nice straw hat that was on the window ledge.

We had 2 new LION batteries on the yacht - £900 each, the weight and space saving is rather impressive but they have been a bit of a nightmare with regards to charging and maintenance.
