QP front tyre set up

Need new front tyres on my QP (20 inch, 245/35 Pirelli) due to wear on the inside edges after 8K miles (assuming the tyres were new when I got it, which I was told by the dealer…). . I’m told this is a common problem and is due to the camber set up. The rest of the tread is in pretty good shape, rears still good for another 2K or so, and the geometry was checked when I bought the car 12 months ago. So q: is it advisable to have the camber set slightly less aggressively? Any experiences or pros/cons? Or a waste of time for the extra 2K that seems likely? Should I just accept the tyre wear as part of the experience  and go with the recommended set up ?

(Apologies if this has been discussed before but I could only find threads relating to tyre costs and fitting in general)

Yeah correct setup does this....had mine altered slightly.....seems to have improved the life of current set.......I don't drive hard so can't comment about extreme etc handling

Had my set up changed my Migliori in Bromsgrove last year. Seems to have solved the extreme wear on the insides. Might be worth giving them a call to discuss it. They knew a lot about this issue when I spoke with them.

My QP has standard 18" wheels, tyre wear has been even for the past 3 years I have owed her...has the recommended geo setup.

Hi there, I would suggest u just need the tracking adjusting, excessive inside edge wear means it's towing out..will also help make the car less fidgety over White lines & bumps, could be the best £50 spent.
Cheers

Thanks. Yes, could well be. I had the tracking checked a while back and it was OK, could well have gone out of spec in the meantime of course. Having spoken to a main dealer and an independent for their views, I'm popping it in to Migliore for a check and advice as soon as poss..

Thanks Enz. Yes, I'm inclined to think that the recommended set up must surely be what nature intended, hence my original question as i was dubious about tampering with it. As per above reply to Gixerboy, I'm getting it checked to make sure it hasn't gone out of spec since the last time it was looked at and will see what's advised. Forum advice much appreciated, thanks all.

I must get mine looked at. It is very "fidgety" over white lines and the like. Last week one of my passengers observed, as it fidgeted over the road's crown going onto the other side of the road for an overtake: "if I didn't know better I would have said that was torque steer I saw you fighting there".

So to complete the story: car was checked by Vic at Migliore this morning. Camber setting was spot on but he advised a small change to the toe-in (which was on the far edge of the acceptable range) so that it has one eighth of an inch inwards toe- in. Apparently this can help with tyre wear without affecting performance/safety and he has done it for others. Will see how that goes and monitor tyre wear a bit more carefully from now on...

Tracking As suspected, these are heavy cars & bumping up a kerb is all it takes...hope it's a bit easier in the straight ahead position.
