Hi All - previous ghibli owner now looking to come back to the brand - my problem with the ghibli was rear seat room for my rear facing baby seat (I had to have my knees by my ears to fit in)

I’m sure the QP will solve this !!

For a budget of around £30k I can either get a face lifted 2017 diesel (love the chrome grill) or a petrol from circa 2015

Mileage is around 8k per year but mpg isn’t a huge issue for me - likewise ulez isn’t a problem (for now)

Im really stuck between head and heart - opinions advice and any issues I’ve not thought about much appreciated!

Petrol. And what it costs you more in fuel will be more than made up by the better smoothness, performance, smell, and residual value. No brainer.

Back in our day, our children fitted in our QP IV just fine. Though looking back, I’m not sure we even used child seats - the Maserati back seats were child-sized from new.

£30k is a tricky budget. Too much for a QPV S and too little for a QPV GT S.

You should be able to get a GT S for 30k. Not the low mile ones that dealers are selling for 35k plus but they are out there now and again.

Unless performance is a key consideration I wouldn't worry about a GT S as the S is no slouch; get one if you can, but you will have to wait a while for one below £30k. The petrol is preferable for performance and residuals, and although I'm not keen on the later grilles that's just personal choice, so if want to follow the Ghibli in that respect it will no doubt push the budget somewhat; there are facelifts at just over £30k so with a bit of negotiation you might get lucky.

Either way, returning to Maserati is already a heart decision - so go with what you like.
