How much of a job would it be to change my 3200GT to a push button start and also have a keyless system to put the car into MAR mode?

Has this been done? I did see a thread on just adding a push button start but I'dont see the point of that if you still use the key to "prime" the car ready to be started.

Just curious if its possible...

Cheers

Not really. You could put a push button to do the cranking over part, but it would still need the key to disable the steering lock, as per the Gransport.

Sure you can build in an electro magnetic actuator for that and a delay that cranking is performed after check engine lights.;)

Sounds like a raspberry pi project:D:D

Hmm I nearly bought a Raspberry Pi a while back :) I just like the idea of getting away from the key plus its in annoying location. Its not the highest priority though. Upgrade of music system is more pressing.

In the gransport then you still use the key to disengage the steering lock and turn on the ignition, but instead of then turning the key while you have your right hand on the key, you have to use your left hand to push the button? So a two handed operation?
It is a bit pointless really!

It’s all possible, but you need a actuator that will fit in the steering shroud, a system with a low power draw when the car is off so the battery isn’t flat when you go to use it and some way of making sure it is secure.

Your insurance would be mad and you would have to wonder if the juice is worth the squeeze.

More like one hand at a time. It never bothered me after the first time I forgot and couldn’t start it!

Of course it is but I’m talking from an engineers perspective. Can’t help it, “a quirk of the trade” or “profession malformation” as we would call it in Dutch;)

It is the difference between two questions.

Can I build a replica Eiffel Tower in my garden?

Should I build a replica Eiffel Tower in my Garden?

It still makes me chuckle, as it was when I was picking it up from the dealer!
Yeah, that too, 'It wont start, battery must be flat' dealer gets in, starts first time  'Can't have had my foot on the brake pedal hard enough' Lol.
