Finally got round to finishing the service, some ape had put the oil filter on previously so a right struggle to get off.

also cleaned the screen at the bottom of the dry sump tank, it had caught a fair bit of debris.

Struggle to get too enthusiastic in this temperature

Doesn’t time fly? Nearly 11 months since last update on the 4200.

It all took a back seat due to building a decent garage (the important part) plus rebuilding the house.

now somewhere dry and secure to mess about.

Next plan is a lift of some sort to make life a lot easier / safer.

Then few more jobs on the car as well as use it over winter

We've got some good discussion on lifts on the forum.
My preference is Twinbusch and I've had two of there's for over two years in my workshop here in France.

Thanks, I’ll have a look for those threads,

I was looking at one of these:

But they’re expensive and probably an overkill really

In my 45 years on the tools I've used nearly every lift manufacturer working around the World.
You won't be using it 8 hours a day 5 days a week so unless budget is no object I'd look at Twinbusch they are in the UK and have a Good website with loads of videos.
I installed both of mine by myself and there support is second to none.
Just make sure your concrete floor is to spec.
As I'm on my own most of the time I went for the extra steel plates to go over the two post bases.
Good Luck.

I’m intrigued; was your service history north of Stoke, or south? Fyi, I’m just asking for a friend.

Heater matrix time, I forgot what a pain it was, the old one removed was original so no wonder it’s leaking after nearly 21 years.

Looking forward to a warm car…

Heater core / matrix job done, not that bad really so long as you’ve the space to put the interior into.

After the recent MOT the front subframe looked very suspect, nicely painted black but hiding the usual serious rot on the offside filled with sealant / sika flex - shame on the performance car specialist (sells Ferrari etc) who had the subframe “repaired” prior to the previous owners purchase.

Anyway I have the old front subframe that came off my GS, as brand new was fitted to that.
so in preparation had this one chemically stripped by Envirostrip in tamworth.

Few pics of what’s left.

Now seeing what’s left it’s with a mate who’s a professional welder.
So should be as strong as new once finished.
The nearside looks ok, always the offside rotting oddly.

Anyway nice to have a winter project but didn’t really want another subframe job…

...hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when you reassembled the interior you put the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Looks like the subframe is worse than I thought, doesn’t really matter as a decent one will be fitted shortly…
Few pics below of the current one, who ever did this “repair” should be shot or maybe just not allowed near any vehicle again.

Doesn’t look that bad - hole just be poked mind

After giving it a good poke and black sealant used to hide the issue removed.

Not modern art but part of the front subframe removed during the repair, only 4 repairs needed all on the offside
