I would definitely buy Lavazza’s car over the 2008 you went to see. Big brake upgrade and clearly a very cherished car. No contest in my eyes.
Yes and no... Lavazza's car is superb... But it's almost double the miles... I have a friend in the trade - his mantra is there are certain things you can improve on with a bit of money - bodywork, interrior and chassis/drivetrain for example. What you cannot improve for all the money in the world is the one owner, completely original low mileage examples with provenance and impecable service history from a known specialist. Unfortunately for me, and I guess fortunately for Lavazza, McGrath gave the car a clean bill of health an hour ago and the chap who beat me to it on the phone got it for £25k...

54,000 miles is nothing on a big engine V8, if it’s been looked after. I would argue that these cars are better driven than standing around. I’ve got 65,000 miles on mine and 110,000 miles on my 360. However, I’m sorry to hear you missed out on that specific car that you had your heart set on.
I hope you can make a deal on Lavazza’s beautiful example. Let us know how you get on.

Oh, I totally agree. My LHD 928GT was on 330,000 kilometres when I bought in 2004 - it did 70,000 km in its first year commuting between Hamburg and Koln! Despite the mileage it was the most reliable car I have ever had except the ones I bought new. I put another 65,000 km on it before I completely stripped it and rebuild it as a race car.

The only thing the London Maserati had over Lavazza's was the provenance in the eyes of the general public down the line if I wanted to move it on...

As for the 110,000 miles on your 360 - it's just a testament that FIAT  knows how to build drivetrains, which I always knew. Yet in the eyes of the generally ignorant public, it will be impossible to move on since it's "intergalactic" mileage....
