Thanks Phil. We'll all I can do is lay my head on the pillow at night and be 100% content with what I do and how I deal with situations and people. That is good enough for me and my personal yardstick.

I'll never be silly rich but it isn't primarily about money for me. Never was....never will be.

I'm a little perturbed but the guy that agreed to buy the 4200 that I haven't received a deposit from that won't respond to my calls or messages now. Oh well, lots of time wasters out there unfortunately so will move one.

The Vantage I've found is very nice and the deal he has offered is fair and close enough that I can squeeze him to where I need to be. Always wanted a mid/dark grey metallic one with the kind of matching facelift lights but his is Jet Black. I am agreeing to buy his blind as he is just over 4 hours away so won't see until I take a part ex up there to see.

He says it is Jet Black but with lots of metallic flake, which I could live with but don't want a flat solid black. Just seeing if I can't find some pics of one or if a local Aston dealer would have one I could see.

I'm sure the OP would love the Blue 4200 I have as it is my favourite colour combo in a 4200. Being a facelift for me tops it off.
Massively tempting but I think maybe too soon for me in my investigations. If you were selling in about a months time I would have made up my mind but at the moment I am still on the fence about whether to keep or sell my SL500 to make way first, SWMBO is against me selling the SL.

Tomorrow I will be calling a local Maserati indy to get a feel for service costs.

No problem at all.

What SL have you got? R230?

Just sold my R129 SL500 a few months ago I had for 4 years. I had an SL60 AMG before that and an SL55 also another R129 SL500.

Had two SWMBO now I'm a free spirit with my partner of 4 years and do exactly as I like.
Downside is I don't have the cars I used to but now live in France semi retired and no pecking ;)

I'm retired too and thinking of relocating to a house with at least 2 garages so I can store my cars. The SL fits the summer motoring category, I have an Audi S5 Sportback for every day practicality and now want an affordable supercar and the Maserati with its Ferrari engine looks like it fits nicely. Unfortunately at the moment I dont have the garage space so if I keep the SL the Maserati will have to be kept on the drive.

Its nice to have the options David.
For me we have a Renault 4 for local French life a Jaguar XF 3.0 D for long trips usually work related and a Boxster S currently in San Sebastian doing our Summer road trip around Spain and Portugal.
Sat on the beach at the minute.

4200 is a great GT and still excellent value for money compared to anything similar. Personally never a fan of the GS, I like the seats but not the dash and particularly hate those surfboards down the side, although they don't look as bad on the shorter GS Spyder

Lovely....very nice. Always partial to an SL

So facelift 388bhp 7g one?

I've had a couple of E55K Estate in the obligatory Brilliant Silver.....awesome cars.

Totally agreed one is more of a fast road driving car and the other a comfortable Coupe which has the abilities to be pushed hard as well.
Love both.
At least no one has come out with the tired old "more than the sum of its parts" cliche. Yawwwn. Imho, a 4200 is better at being a GT than a GS is at being a sports car. Styling & interior aside, which is just personal preference, GS ride & handling are suited to billiard flat roads.

Hi all, service costs have been a bit of a surprise compared even to my SL500..... annual Maserati approved servicing year 1 c.£750, year 2 c.£1200, year 3 c.£750, year 4 c.£1900. But I understand there is a non approved low mileage service that can be done for just c.£600 per year.

You will get servicing less than from an indy specialist.
I decided to go for a 2004 Maserati 4200 with the manual gearbox and haven't regretted my decision for a moment. Had it for 18 months and still look forward to going for a drive at the weekend.

Those prices are from an indy.

Another bit of info......insurance.

Best quote I have had is Churchill at £236 with an £800 excess and 3 years NCD, for comparison my SL is with Aviva at £187 with a £350 excess but at the time of getting the insurance the NCD was 2 years.

The Maserati is looking expensive but I am still keen, I might have to send my wife back out to work.

I see you are retired.
Me too and I have had my annual renewal on my '03 4200 of £185.00 without even haggling. But that is based on living in the South West on 2k miles per annum and a £400 excess. With SAGA and I usualyy have to fight with them for my cars at renewal time. Are they learning their lesson?
