Hi all, first real post on the forum, so please bear with me.

Long time Italian car fan and previous Alfa owner (Giulia Veloce). I'm looking to replace my current weekender (99 MR2 GT T BAR) with something "a little" more practical.

I've been looking at Alfa GTV V6's but with a limited market place, I'm trying to keep my options open, which is when the 4200 caught my eye.

Looking at the 4200 as I believe the engine is a good one if maintained properly.

I've a limited budget which makes my potential choice of cars more challenging. I'm after something primarily well maintained, by owners who have cared, not too bothered on colour etc just the best history possible.

Something that needs minor jobs etc not an issue, something i can improve over time and make my own. I realise I can not afford perfection.

I won't put many miles on, but when I get at the wheel it will be enjoyed greatly.

Any help / guidance appreciated.

I'm located in the east Midlands.

Cheers

Thanks.

I've been doing my research, but have only just been able to get my forum account verified (technical issues with the website I think).

I'm trying to be as sensible as possible, but also thinking at the same time you only live once.

My daily is electric, but I'd love to have a V8 again as an alternative.

Thanks in advance for any guidance / advice.

Have a look @Kiwibrit thread he has a 4200 for sale and is a known car. Great colour and decent value.

Went to see a 4200 today (local to me). It's the first I've seen or even been near to. Beautiful car, the underside absolutely immaculate.

Hardly a mark on it and Grigio Alfiera Grey is a stunning colour.

Congrats!
I did the factory tour last month with the 13-year old, as a Maserati owner you get in separate groups and get the tour for free.
(only figured that out as I was trying to get a 'normal' ticket last minute and all tours during our stay were full)

There's a common thread running through here that it's really, really, really hard to part with these cars...and I assume you will feel the same, ultimately...
I had to sell my Lexus RCF during covid, fear of losing one's job does that. Watching it go off on the lorry was painful.

The previous owner was just not getting chance to drive it, I hope I can do it justice.

There was zero doubt in my mind buying from him, it is a cherished car.

Best thing you can do for him, now, is to take care of it...and drive the heck out of the car, every chance you get! It's always easier/better when you know whomever is buying it is going to love it as much as you did...

I've tried to reassure him, this car has had so much done under his and previous ownership.

Subframes refurbished and car undercoated
Springs
Clutch
Discs and pads
Head lining
Sticky buttons on radio
Full respray (brake fluid dripped on it when at a workshop)
New speakers
Stainless steel exhaust 200 cats (with x pipe I believe)

Etc etc

It's been a labour of love. I hope I can do it justice over my ownership, hopefully with not too many curve balls thrown my way!

First step, service with shiltech (I think) to be booked in.

The paint is so good it's worthy of ppf, I just wish I had the funds!
