Popping and squeaking from speakers - 2007 Gransport

Afternoon all,
Put the stereo on in the Gransport, all standard and original and terrible pooping, squeaking sounds. Sounds like a speaker has failed. Anyone had a similar experience before I start removing them all? Thanks Richard
 
Have you the Auditorium option fitted?

If so it maybe the ASK amp fitted just behind the battery. This can be isolated if required.
 
You can bypass the amp as the in/out cable has the same connectors (male/female).
If you follow the cable from the amp you should be able to feel where it joins the wiring loom.

If you are agile you may be able to access the cable without removing the battery...but it is easiest that way.
 
Definitely easier if you take the battery out. Your symptoms sound like my car did, and it was indeed the amp that was at fault. With the battery out, you can take the amp out (four 10mm nuts, from memory) as well as bypass it.

The head unit gives out enough volume without the amp, although I have now fitted a Blaupunkt unit to give me bluetooth connectivity and that is working well without any external amp.
