Pierburg valve pipework

Does anyone know where the long vacuum hose that comes from the top of the valve towards the rear of the engine. Can’t find where it goes. We have done the smoke test trying to find it but no leaks. Also the smaller pipe that comes off the valve and goes round the left side of the inlet manifold has snapped off. Just trying to diagnose the boost issue.

Top one just vent to atmosphere? Bottom one to intake , other one to both turbos.

What was up?

The pipe fro the peirburg valve to both turbos was broken off at the valve. Had to remove the valve and my guy done a very delicate repair. To the valve and reattached the pipe. All good. The check engine light has now gone out too.

So car must have been overboosting badly since wastegates are not opening at all. How did the car react on that? Fuel-cut? did you measure the boost while it was broken?

Yes the fuel was cutting badly. My check engine light is back on again. I did have a bad water leak after the cambelt was done from the top engine pipe. I suspect the coolant has damaged the knock sensor on bank 2 going by the fault codes so although the car is now boosting it’s still not back to full power. Another big job now scheduled next weekend to change both sensors under the plenium. I’m just going to find out what else should be changed while I’m in there.

While oyu are in there the jobs you might want to consider are - replace 4 small water hoses with silicone, new seal on the lower plenum cover and loctite the screws in, replace the starter motor with the Bosch equivalent, and consider new bolts for the plenum as these tend to be both rusty and hard to remove so the heads get chewed up, i put stainless bolts in my car. There may be more things you can do in there but thats my list :)
