I've just done something I'm never doing again

I've been looking for a first car for my daughter, saw a mini one advertised, woman giving up driving because of age, tons of history, spent 3k on it this year, we had a chat on the phone, I felt confident enough to go to Devon for it, 6½ hours on the train there, 16 hours door to door

Got there and **** me, giffer dings on every corner, seagull **** all over it, interior filthy

The lady however was lovely, 85 and not a clue about cars, straight away I saw the Prince engine problem, stretched camchain, if you leave it ticking over the bores get oil in them, rev it and blue smoke FFS

So, it's 4pm, I'm miles away from anywhere, the only train back leaves at 7pm and gets to Warrington at 6:30am with a lovely 5 hour 1am stop in crewe

Luckily for me she's a reasonable woman I point out the (many) flaws and we agree on a price which I'm thankful for because I think I'd have been sleeping on a park bench if we hadn't

Just drove it back, 260 miles which must have been a shock for it as I doubt it's been over 30mph for 5 years, it's got 3 weeks MOT, booked in for Saturday so I'll see what happens there then make a decision about it

I only really bought it to get home as I was knackered without it

I'd think her house in Devon will be well over £1m

This was the view from the roof terrace, I thought I'd only be there for 20 minutes, I was there long enough to see a sunset

Not enough to ever do it again

I got back at 11pm but I was wide awake so didn't go the bed until 1am.

Mot Saturday so I'll see how that goes before I make a decision on what's happening with it

There's one thing for sure, no more coastal cars
