Would love a DB5 or 6.... right opposite the gate to my middle school in the '70s there was often a dark blue F reg'd DB6 parked on an old boy's drive, it oozed glamour to an impressionable sort like me. About four or five years ago it came up for sale in need of some tlc for £125k.

Can't afford an Aston though so this morning I finally bought my first Maser....!

Funny you should say that as it occurred to me how nice the car would look in 'Cosa Nostra' black! Can't wait to get it home and give a it a thorough deep clean, and I'm looking forward to taking it to the MITCAR do at Gaydon in August ;)

I'll be replacing the steering wheel with the Nardi one that's currently fitted to my Cooper S....

The speedo needs sorting out as it's a bit temperamental but everything else works.

Incidentally I was watching a repeat of 'The Young Montalbano' on BBC4 last night and one of the the characters had a Biturbo coupe.

The engine bay could do with a thorough clean up, I might nip over to Shiltech in Loughborough or Migliore in Bromsgrove some time and get a quote to have the engine whipped out, cleaned, repainted and put back in etc, as they're the closest Maser people to me in Rugby.

Yes we had it up in the air, all good underneath, it's had some small patches welded along the sill line in the past but it all appears to be ok. The exhaust is s/steel and there's a MIE anti-roll bar at the back. When Mike the previous owner bought it five years ago there was no spare wheel cage underneath at the back so he made a new one from scratch! Comes with a load of spares and paperwork too, the plate has been on it since '97 so it might as well stay put.

excellent, interior is exactly as mine and looks in good shape as well, not sure what yours is like but the sump on my spyder is ridiculously low, in fact when mot'd even the jacking beam on the 4 poster struggles to get past the exhaust downpipes unless you push car up a tad

Yes I noticed how low the beautifully cast sump is, I'll be avoiding certain routes locally where the road humps are just plain ridiculous!

The dump valve gubbins were put on before the previous owner had it and will be removed at some point.

Does anyone know how to remove the centre trim from the steering wheel.... does it have to be levered off or is if screwed in from behind the wheel...?

this guy has done some really fascinating videos of his resto and some some real bad luck with the engine rebuild, hats oof to him for his perseverance
