good trick to hide cr4p welding was a load of body schutz, remember welding some rear arches on a neighbours chevette many moons ago, not in the dark though, i still have my old Clarke 165 welder from some 35 years ago and still runs fine as a spare
We did sills on an old Austin 1300 with pop rivets and then bathroom sealant to look like weld and lots of underseal, that passed it MOT for a few years.

The guy who’s fitting my rollcage was asked to update a cage in a race car which a customer had just bought. Turned out the welds on it had been carefully fashioned from filler and silicone to form a perfect “bead”

I regularly weld mot failures up for a good mate, considering I come from a nuclear engineering background and its people's safety we're talking about, what is considered acceptable is sometimes quite shocking.
Edit: I should add I help him out for free

Don't know, not watched columbo in years

It's a solid car , needs a roof and the seats sorting out , it's on the road driving, he said mint ones in france make 45,000 euros and anything needing a full restoration starts at 10,000 -15,000 , Is it something you'd be interested in, I'd have thought it'd be right up your street living in france

Ms French would love it so I won't be showing her it.
Not sure what the next one will be yet.
