The Escort is the ex works Pentti Airikkala Group B RS1700T. Photo from what I think was it’s only international event, Portugal 1982 Ari Vatanen stuffed the other one. Developed right at the time Audi was proving the Quattro and promptly binned to go 4WD with the RS200

Powered by a turbocharged BDA, in a bespoke chassis with rear mounted transaxle and torque tube.

Here’s an interesting one from this time last year at Shelsley, anyone know what it is?

that's a replica 1700T, genuine ones rare as hens teeth I only know of 2 in existence, a blue one being restored in the UK for an American collector and one that is owned by Brian Betteridge, Boreham scrapped the rally programme for these after only a handful were made and decided to go with the RS200 project

Edit: actually that looks genuine and might be the restored Blue one for the American collector

Gartrac made some peachey rear wheel drive conversions of the Mk3, road going G6 and for rallying and using the V6 lump, factory in the 80's used to be down the road from me and often lushed over them when visiting, collectors cars now and rare

That’s WVW 100W the Pentti car from Portugal. Restored by BGM which I think is the same guy you’re talking about who also owns the McRae Subarus

Steve Rimmer, seems he has a fabulous collection of motorsport cars, shame he doesn't live in the UK to enjoy them more often
