If you’ve never seen a race from Mount Panorama this incar from TCM gives you an idea, about 50 secs in it gets interesting

Yep, courtesy of Repco iirc.Closer than you might think, Big Bertha had a Holden engine.

Ahh, the good old days......
I was fortunate to drive in the first 'Big Race' at Bathurst. The Armstrong 500, 1963.
I'm in the Beetle, taking care not to hit Charlie Smith, changing a wheel of the Mini. Any work on the car, while out on the circuit, had to be done by the driver, using the tools that came with the car. No 'Safety Cars' back then!

It was indeed a Ventora, and originally came with a 3.3ltr straight six (I think it was essentially a Bedford truck engine). I had one as a family hack back in the 80's.That looks like an FE VX 4/90 or Ventora. One of my first cars was an FE VX 4/90, a slow old barge but a nice place to be when burning excessive amounts of 4 star whilst going nowhere in a hurry. Me and a mate followed the Lombard RAC from start to finish in it, which worked really well as there was plenty of room to stretch out when not driving. Happy days!
Nothing was dangerous until the 70's!I was fortunate to drive in the first 'Big Race' at Bathurst. The Armstrong 500, 1963.
