As has already been said, there is a long term strategy, where car ownership will become something only for the wealthy. London has already become a private playground for the super rich. The London Congestion charge will from 2025 (and who knows what Saddiq Khan will have put the charge to up to by then) become applicable to EV's, and when we are all driving an EV, see what the price of charging will go up too. All these private charging infrastructure companies are playing the long game. One they have a captive audience their greed for profits and as a result big director bonuses will be open for all to see!
Bit of a farce really Keith, fumes don’t become less toxic the more you give Sadiq Khan.

Anyone got a full ev 5 years or more old? I quite like the look of an i3 with range extender , but wonder how much range has been lost

You wait and see in couple of years when your smart meter gets re mapped to sense EVs being plugged in, It'll cost a fortune to charge!
Plus the forthcoming road pricing sh*te which will defiantly stitch EV drivers big time as they don't pay any fuel duty
I'd stick with a old Maser V8 as long as you can!

They will encourage business to upgrade their fleet to euro 6 but that'll only move the problem elsewhere , anything commercial older than 2015 will be worthless in London , and Manchester from next year so they'll just be sold somewhere with no ULEZ

My smart meter gives me a special low rate for charging overnight. But I do agree, the future for smart meters is they will be able to charge more at peak demand, like commercial meters do.

On the other hand, there will also be feed ins for using EVs for grid support. We will see.

Certainly my plan is to keep cars that interest me until I no longer can and think I'm of the age where my plan will work.
Still looking for another Maserati project have seen a 3200 GT here but it was Rough and €16,000 so that won't be happening.

It's just based on miles covered and fuel used.

My journeys locally are all within the battery range and I have 10 free charging points all within 5 miles at places I frequent.

We have covered 8k in it, which includes 3 trips to Cumbria and my drive to work (51 miles) which I do a couple of times a week.

Once you get the hang of it the hybrid system is a reasonable compromise. I use EV mode until I join the motorway and do not use the engine to recharge... fortunately work are installing plug in points too so it should get better miles per fuel soon.

If you are are interested make sure you get the newest possible as the batteries are improved year on year. Also make sure it is the top spec and is the top spec... too many are advertised as xxxx Pro and are not (the pro has matrix LED lights)

Oh and it is as quick as the GS 0-60!!!

Mine measures it the same way, I am at an average of 58.5 right now.

Thanks. I will be waiting for the next shape XC90 or 60 as the replacement so things will have moved on by then. Not a criticism but if I have understood you correctly it puts electric only running in at zero cost but includes the miles in the calc? I appreciate that you might be getting free charging but some might not. Does it log electric only miles so you can do you own calc later on?

There is an App that logs it weekly and 3 monthly and also records each trip separately so you can do any expenses... I have just checked and it does record electricity use and or petrol use. You can send via an excel spread sheet and it records from where to where, dare and time, milage and fuel used etc.

A Great spy app if you want to know where the car has been and when.

Now I'm getting distracted from work!

Just checked that log and on my last big trip of 118 miles to Crewe I used 3.19 gallons and 6.6kwh with 4.4kwh regeneration via the brakes... so around 37mpg

That's the problem with data, it's often interesting beyond real necessity. I'm using my Maser today rather than the Volvo as it's still dry, warm (ish) and there is no salt around.
