Pedal Placement

Noticed a thread recently about footware people wear when driving there cars. This was raised because of a concern about the close proximity of the pedals in the GT or GC ( dont know anout the QP ) and the possibility of fouling the accelerator when braking. As anyone actually either moved the brake pedal plate or raiseds its face level relative to the accelerator to reduce this risk. I noticed that some owners on the US site had had a problem with this issue but the threads did not come to any conclusion on possible mods.

Cheers

Hi Bigsteve and welcome to the forum.

Not for this reason, but I did change the height of my accelerator pedal to the same as the brake, which did help, but to be honest whether the same height or not, I found I very quickly got used to their relative positions. Only really noticed it when I bought a new pair of shoes, so then it just took a few drives to get used to them.

Oh and don't believe Parisien; he's actually Professor L'Academie De Danse, Paris Opera Ballet, so he drives around in Pointes all the time, so no issues with the pedals and it keeps his ankles in fine fettle. To be honest, given his advancing age, he does have a great set of pins.

Welcome to the forum bigsteve,
Never had a problem in my QP with the pedal placement, spacing for me is perfect.

Enzo.

Apparently your not insured if you drive with unsuitable footwear , and no shoes/ flip flops are classed as unsuitable, not a lot of people know that , now the woman down the road at No 69

Not speeding Frank just for driving bare foot it just felt good as it was 30 degrees plus over there.
For once in my life my licence has no points on it.

So with reference to foot controls what guidance is provided by official bodies? The 2010/2011 edition of the DSA guide to driving - the essential skills is bound to be able to assist. This publication is packed with advice for learners, professional drivers and instructors. Yes pages 51 to 53 look promising. You would think that the driver would be wearing a slim or otherwise sensble pair of shoes in the illustrations Sorry to disappoint, because the driver was wearing what I would describe as 'Caterpillar boots'........................ If you are really good perhaps you can operate all three pedals in a single application! .................... Give me strength!!!

Paul

Its not just me then, I always drive in bare feet in the summer, I like the feeling of the cold metal pedal on my bare feet, makes you feel more connected with the car.....and yes, I know I am sad!
