Passenger seat problems

So, I've had my first issue...

The passenger seat has developed a wee problem. The height and lumbar works, just now refuses to move backwards/forwards. I've tried the "turn off battery, turn on again, move the seat backwards and forwards etc" but to no avail.

It was working fine right up till my lad decided to interrupt the seat when it was moving back into position. There was a smell of burning, a wisp of smoke and then it just stopped. Didn't work the rest of the day but I was able to move it the next morning, but that was the last time.

Has anyone had this issue before and point me in the right direction please?

Unplug and replug the connectors under the seat. There are two, the ones that makes the beeps means it's reset. That should do it.

Can I also jump in with my seat problem? I had one of the seats removed to repair the cracks at the back. Cracks removed but now when the seat is folded, the automatic forward/rear slide is not possible. With buttons on the side, all is fine. I found the little connections in the seat which activates the move and they seem to be ok, at least same as the working one. Any ideas?

Maserati say to 'wiggle' the base button 14-16 times until it ceases to operate. Then your seat is reset and the easy entry system should function.

The manual has a reset procedure:

Open the door
Forward
Back
Forward
Back
tilt forward

It should go fully forward, full back again (maybe twice) and then work.

Dicky's is not one I've heard before.

I think Dicky's is for the easy entry (in the back) and not for memory of seat base..??

Tried couple times, still no luck. Also unplugged the brackets under the seat and heard the 3 beeps, still nope.

It can take a few attempts, but if the seat's not moving when the buttons are pressed, I guess it's not going to work :(

The seat moves all the way back and rear. Does not move front for easy rear access when I tilt the seat to the front by pulling up the side top handle. Only the left side is issue.

So did it go through going forward and back on its own when you did the reset?

If not either:
a) You didn't get the timing right
b) Something is broken

Here's the exact quote:

With the ignition key in the STOP position and the door closed on the side of the seat concerned, open the door and start the following procedure within 5 seconds. You must then complete it within 10 seconds:
WARNING: Malfunctioning of the seat control unit is indicated by a sequence of 5 tones emitted when the ignition key is turned to the STOP position: consult your Authorized Maserati Dealer to remove the failure.
When reconnecting the power supply after a power cut-off (e.g. the battery master switch is activated, the fuse burns out or the battery goes flat), check that the seats work correctly: if not, carry out the following procedures on both seats.
1) forwards - STOP 4 2) backwards - STOP
3) forwards - STOP
4) backwards - STOP
5) tilt the seatback completely and wait until the seat performs two complete travels (forwards and backwards)
6) return the seatback to the normal position.

If you had smoke and burning smell I don't think any reset operation is going to work.
You either burned the output transistor of the control module or the motor/brushes.

Im afraid you will have to remove the seat and try to actuate the motor directly to locate which part burned

As I stated before this what mine did a puff of smoke than stopped working ,remove seat ,take off motor disassembled ,cleaned sticky bushes .its not a difficult job and you don't need any special tools apart from a soldering iron .works fine now !

Will do this weekend as I'm away. Brilliant support, many thanks.

So, after trying everything that my limited ability could handle (and getting nowhere), I took the car into see the mechanic. After spending an hour checking various things (funny, cause I only asked him for a 'quick 5 minutes') he figured out that the motor is at fault. He doesn't think it's repairable and suggested replacing it. Does anyone know where I can find one? I've looked on eurospares and I can't see one.

Would anyone know what the part number is for the motor which drives the aft/fore movement? David Askew has one in stock but he doesn't know which one to send me without the part number.

I replaced the fore/aft motor on the drivers seat of my car, the part number was : 99662433200, its a Porsche part,

This is the part I used:
https://www.ecstuning.com/ES1494838/

I didn't buy from these guys, as I found a cheaper one on ebay. Being a Porsche part you should have no problem finding a second hand from a 996 for cheap.

I would assume this part would be the same for your car, but you should check your car to make sure.
