Part/s & Rust

So I had a quick look under my 09' QP today to try and ID whether it has vacuum valves or not, still no idea. However I noticed a couple of bits starting to show signs of rust. From the picture can anyone ID the parts and whether this level of corrosion is typical of a car this age?

That's for wheel alignment and looking at it I would be getting the car checked all over and prepped for Winter.
It was an 07 one I put a front sub frame in this year.

Well the MOT in July give everything the all clear. So sub frame from what you can see is fine?

When you say prepped what do you mean? sorry Im not the most technical when it comes to cars.

It wants all the rust removing and suitably treated.
Several have had it done on here.
Salt on the roads is the culprit.

No valves. You only have one inlet into the rear silencer

Bizzare! Maserati UK confirmed it had valves! As a owner surely there has to be some compensation as the model is meant to have them as a standard feature?

Maybe someone swapped them out for standards?

The video is not 100% clear, but I'm pretty sure. If you get a shot of the front of the rear boxes...

I can never find the part numbers for the valved rears on the QP but if you squint

You can just make out the valve where the additional air hoses go....

Granted the video isn't that clear, access is harder than I thought as car sits very low. What is your take on the rusty aspects? Do I need to be worried?

I'm not an expert. If you're at all worried, get it on a ramp and get a pro to check. Better to attack it earlier than let it get spendy.

I used to drive 1980s Alfas, so I speak from extensive experience....

Everything rusts eventually.

I'm not worried at all, although I like to do odd jobs to make the car 'perfect' or as good as it can be.

The valve thing is more worrying as I wanted the bigger engine for the noise.

If the car is not garaged and used in winter then you’ll never stop it.
It’s the damp island we live on.

Ok seems like there is a fair bit of confusion and probably deception concerning the exhaust systems on QPs!

The Maserati line is that if yiur car is a 4.7s or higher, GT S, MC etc then there an exhaust control system will be installed from factory!

However, over at Maserati life this was discussed in depth and the view is not agreed on but looks like ONLY 4.7 cars with oval pipes can control the exhaust via Sport button! There appears to be a lot of disagreement with owners of quad piped cars and even oval piped ones too.

As a default position though Maserati say 4.7 cars from factory are capable of controlling exhaust valves. Therefore if this is not the case, the owners may have switched a system which I doubt or original buyers have been duped! Is there anyway to view a build checklist on these cars or some sort of manufacturing inventory?

The rust is merely surface rust, a quick rub down of the area with wire wool and a suitable antirust metal paint should solve that.
