The one measures in 1/10ths mm the other 1/10ths micron.

Not sure how much use one is that can only work at 0.1mm modern paints are quite thin.

I don't know what the current situation is but in 1998/9 I was trained by Porsche/Glasurit in the Porsche paint application process (not putting it on myself I must say) and then they were down to 85μm total paint thickness; given that a human head hair is 80-120μm that is crazy. They argued they were using galvanised metal so the paint was nothing more than cosmetic! Normal bodyshop repairs back then were expected to be 200-400μm without any plop under the paint!

What use would a paint thicknesser be that only measures down to 100μm units???? even 10μm would be a little odd.

Guess you pays your money and get what you get...
