I've been doing some research re black car waxes etc.....PS. I'm no detailer.

Anyone that has a black car knows how great they look when they're clean....but swirls, scratches etc are a nuisance and many polishes aren't effective in hiding them.
Discovered this, Turtle wax black box....specifically for black cars. 4 stage process...ending with a gorgeous cherry almond smelling carnuba wax.
Application took me about 2.5 hours....but the results are, IMO well worth it. I don't think the car has ever looked this good.

It hides small scratches, stone chips and no swirls whatsover!! Great Mirror shine too.

Last pic, before i started. Lots of white residue. Lettering not clear in reflection

1st, After, less white spotting...more black and shiny and lettering far clearer in reflection

3rd Auditioning for "Coneheads II" next week

4th as Amy said

"Back to Black"

I'm impressed, you need to wear gloves as everything in the kit is black and would be hellish to wash off....couple of extra mico fibres needed too, but if you've got a black car, it gets a Thumbs up from me.

Cheers Wattie

Great choice of car Wattie - I have one of those too!

Looks lovely when it's freshly polished.

Thanks for the review, v interesting and looks excellent. According to Q and A on the Halfords site it can be used on all colours - one reviewer says he used it on red, and it is "suitable for all paint finishes". Be interested to know if anyone here has used it on other dark colours?

I'm about to try Bullet polish - US import which has been introduced over here, it was on special offer from the importer at a meeting I was at on Sunday. It's simply carnauba wax in an emulsion. So probably good for a shine but not for filling in colour?

Yup I can comb my hair in the reflection

I Love the GT's shape...proved to be reliable too and so much more exclusive than a 3 series Beemer!!

Cheers Wattie.

Wattie isn't this what dealers use to "disguise" in a short period, less than brilliant finishes on black/met black cars before sale anyways..........2/3/4/5 weeks later the "true" condition eventually shows through?!

I use poorboys black hole and optimium concentrate detailier. The poorboys gives the depth whilst the detailier give superb shine.

Mmmnnn "black box"........"black hole"...... maybe there's some subliminal marketing going on here!

Hope its better then the Tcut range of colour Tcut. Absolute waste of money. Even came with a little colour stick for scratches. **** stuff never stuck, just caused a **** mess. I also don't like Autoglym stuff. Their polish just leaves a residue.
Its harder to apply, but a good wax, will always win.

Andy.

Looks very nice James......tedious to apply...or?

P

Pretty easy to apply Frank.
Best to use the poorboys blackhole sparingly and I apply using a damp polishing cloth which seems to help when buffing off.
The optimium detailer is a fantastic find. I have nether used a product which gives such fantastic (albeit temporary) shine.

Cheers James.....use Collinite myself.......as long as applied sparingly not too bad to buff off

I bought a box of this for my black QP and had good results, though it took me 6 1/2 hours in total it was worth it. Still looking good a couple of weeks later but it is a "quick fix". I'll probably stump up for a desent paint correction when I get the time.

Take any pics?
Cheers Wattie

Didn't take any pictures as the light was poor indoors and it was raining outside. Next time I do it I'll get some snaps. Very deep shine with most scratches and swirls removed and some nasty scratches looking much better.

My car has a lot of stone chips on the front and by the back doors on the protective film and both areas have vast improvements.

Yea, think I would.

Pleased with the results but not sure how long it will last.

If I have to do it every 6-8 weeks I would be happy, and don't think it would take as long to do next time.

This finish is from using Black Wax. :) It does help cover swirls and gives a good deep shine to non metalic finishes like mine . I have recently started using DODO Juice Purple Haze, its fantastic stuff and great for dark paint cars.
