Our cars are so slow it’s like living in a black and white world

Its the whole ownership experience which make Maserati different.
I am completely besotted with my QP. It does not matter if a Golf GTI or some such wins the traffic light grand prix. When I start it, drive it, hear it, take it through tunnels, have conversations about it with with mesmerised folks or even just look at it in my drive way, it make me happy.

For speed though, I have ordered an Atom. So that will kind of tick the big speed box for the next few years .:p

Did you order the Atom with the big engine and massive wing? Hope you bring it along to a meet :)

It's the new Type R turbo. 320 odd bhp. Upgrade available to take it to 350. May not include that as might make it too insane. But will definitely get wings.
Production starts this spring. Mine due this time next year. So a bit of a wait.
@Wattie here will help me spec it right. :)

For me at least the joy , emotional connection and involvement with my MC is not comparable to anything else . Fast doesn’t mean fun by any measures . I drove fast cars but when you see people giving you way on motorway when they see the face of GTS in the mirror and hear it’s roar a mile away , beats any bullet fast car for me :)

Sure she’s getting old, no she’s not as fast as I think I’d like but I still love her....!!

This is why MX-5 are fun you don't need to be motoring along you can have it sideways coming off a wet roundabout at very low speeds :D

On paper, my M140i is as fast as the Maser, but the Maser handles the power better with the wider track, double wishbone suspension, and wider tyre footprint.
With the BMW the suspension and narrow rear tyres really struggle at times and heavily relies on the electronics, when the Maser basically has none!
So the Maser driver enjoyment is much better.

People may be paying too much focus on the 0-60 performance figure, just buying the bragging right maybe? There are so many other cars faster and cheaper to keep and maintain, you can buy a Tesla to win the traffic light Grand Prix. I am sure many of you have had a few such performance cars along the way, but how many invokes the same emotion as the GT?

Actually, I love the fact that I can enjoy the car driving slowly!

Sure, all the new performance cars are so much faster, but how long would it take for that to wear off before they become just another car?

That is a problem.
So used to driving the M140i as a daily, it has become 'normal' to me having so much power when required.
You can now ecu re-tune them to 450 BHP, insane, in a 1 series!!
Not sure I could go back to a typical 2lt turbo diesel as a daily now. Totally spoilt!

Factory is just down the road from me, sold a car to the workshop manager a few years ago.

Speed and acceleration have got silly, the Senna on Grand Tour did 0-60 in 2.9 but then went on to 180 mph in under 20 secs - now that is fast

That's cool. I will be visiting Crewkerne at some point this year. At least once to test drive and later on to spec it.
Looking forward to it.

I took the Maser out the other night to clean the discs off and it reminded me what a fantastic car it is, even with all its shortcomings. Both my 335D and RS will blows it’s doors off, but don’t have the nut-sack tingle the Maser has, and always had. Between the 3 of them, they cover every type of driving I need but the Maser is still the only ‘Sunday’ car.

335d for the win.

A gold wrap??

Regardless, that'll be a ridiculous car. Well done!

This is it for me. Looks, sound, feel even just driving in traffic through town (which is usually at least half of any journey I make) keeps me happy. A faster, but less special car wouldn't do that for me. It's the same reason, when I previously needed an estate, that I had the C63, not an RS4. RS4 would have been quicker in most weather in the real world, but wouldn't give me that kick on start up, or rumbling through traffic.

And then there's the mini, which is just fun at any speed (and still doesn't do too badly keeping up on a twisty B road!)

Ok let me ask a question. Let’s say the new coupe is out next year. Do people want a 460PS n/a V8 with a six speed ZF or a 560PS biturbo V8 with an eight speed ZF, same price?

depends how brutal gonna be that 3.8 V8 BiTurbo , if something like the new QP GTS , then absolutely NO, Emotions and Driving Pleasure are = ZERO.

today, i prefer my QP GTS 4.7 Naturally Aspirated! The Screaming V8 !!! EMOTIONS, EMOTIONS, EMOTIONS, and what a Pleasure to Drive and Look at. <3

so for me, V8 NA with 6 speed.
