Operation mode shenanigans

Good Afternoon,

My 4200 (05 plate) is stuck in "Auto" mode. All ok this morning until I tried it in Auto mode whilst in traffic, then on deactivating it the "Icy" symbol is illuminated even though the ambient temp is 19 degC! and it is stuck in Auto, however the Auto symbol is not illuminated just the "Icy" symbol ( bulbs all ok) Rather boring driving now as it shifts up at around 2500 rpm even in "Sport" mode.
I have isolated the battery on off a few times to no avail....still showing Ice and in Auto.
Thinking it needs a diagnostic plug in and reset?

Yep that's done the trick! Didn't even realise that button existed. Many thanks!

Heh. I love the simple answers. You must have pressed the Ice button when trying to take it out of Auto. It's horrible isn't it? The similar mode on the GT is actually useful.

Sounds like you just pressed the icy button by mistake when you went to turn the auto off. Easy to do when your watching the road ahead.

Indeed the nice easy fixes are always the best! Lesson learnt...I'll just stick to pushing the sport button from now on!
