I didn’t see much point in paying £120 more for a Larini. They are exactly the same as the one from Marios which takes 1 week to make and cost £280.
I think Larini are made from a better grade of stainless, they always seem to hold there shine better than others.

Larini are far superior with build quality and sound, you can definitely hear the difference between Larini and other makes... in my opinion there is no substitute

I am tempted to fit a X-pipe. Which make do people go for and is it just louder or different tone? Its hard to gauge from the online videos.

I went for Larini, but only because I managed to get a good used one at about half price. The Larini one lines its pipes on the X up slightly different from the others I've seen. The others seem t be the same as the OEM pipe, but without the muffler. I don't know if that's a good thing or not for flow etc
I'd say its about 20-25% louder than stock. The pops and crackles are far more audible. The only downside I see, is that you do lose a little of the low down base tone and gain a little rasp.
I don't like rasp, but its not bad, and still kept it on as the gain in volume and more pronounced crackles outweighed it.

I bought the original and it was full of swarf and the swages were terribly sized making it a pig to fit. I'd try an alternative if I had to buy another.

My Larini x-pipe is much easier to fit and remove than the OEM pipe.

Looks like I need to get the X pipe fitted. I will get the Larini one ordered soon.

Just a little update after 3.5 years later. Still absolutely loving it, and can't think of anything else under £100k I'd replace it with.
The difference with the noise between the pre and post facelift i think was down to the exhaust baffles being newer and much less mileage. Now a few years down the line, and I've done a lot more miles the noise has definitely got more aggressive with the same amount of pops, burbles and crackles as the early one had.
The slightly different downshift I mentioned earlier in the thread, is still apparent, but I get round this by double downshifting, and it sounds absolutely awesome!
Personally for me, the facelift front, the engine upgrade and definitely the seats makes the post 2012 worth the extra. I think it's the sweet spot.

I'll come back and post some of the bits I've done at a later date.

Sam could you please point me to that thread you reference? I do remember reading it... but I've forgotten some of the details.

Did you intimate that the rev-matching aspects (on a down-change) for the later car are less evident?

Post in thread 'Oops, I did it again - Another Granturismo MC-Shift' https://www.sportsmaserati.com/index.php?threads/oops-i-did-it-again-another-granturismo-mc-shift.30386/post-740961

It's in the above post, (post 20 this thread) and think a couple of us discussed it on another thread at some point, but basically yeah. I feel the down-change on the facelift cars is a bit smother and quicker, but the downside is it 'barks' a little less than the early cars as the revs don't seem to blip quite as high when the clutch is open.
I find on the facelift car, letting the revs drop to around 1800-2000rpm then double downshifting gives a great 'bark' though, so still very much grin from ear to ear on the downshifts.
