I managed to get a very cheap pair of valved mufflers off a 4.7 GT, these I'm trying to have fitted on to my QP. The tailpipes are a few inches shorter than the QP. I'm guessing this is weld work?

I'd guess so, at least. Any exhaust fabricator should be able to help, assuming they actually fit in the gaps, as it were.

Just an upate on my exhaust modification project:

  1. I had standard back boxes in my 4.7s QP
  2. I bought a valved pair of quad tip stainless back boxes from a GT 4.7 (for very little money) and the valves move freely
  3. I had the tail pipes extended by an exhaust fabricator which cost £300 (more than the cost of the valved back boxes alone)

I got the QP back today and the sound is absolutely incredible and unbelievably loud compared to the stock QP, visually you couldn't tell the back boxes are from a 4.7 GT.
The valves are permanently open for now and this weekend ill connect up the vacuum lines and switch for the vacuum solenoid valve. I decided to build my own kit rather than buy one.

Pictures to follow.

I was toying with doing this and glad only a minor extension is required, but have decided to do cats first. I do have a baffle rattling in my right hand box though. Are you planning on moving yours on or keeping for swapping back?

If any one needs a centre resonator I have one that I got off the GT, in great condition complete with clamps - pm me for a reasonable price quote
