Ok. Have seen sense. Spent the day clearing winter cobwebs, washing, waxing and polishing the car and now have decided the heart is right.......I can't sell her. The only car I would exchange her for is an aero 8 and they are out my pocket range, so anything else is going to be 2nd best. Have even persuaded Fiona it is the right thing to do.......... I think
Sh1t iPad pic, but you get it, yeah?

1994/5 Lotus Elan S2. The best front wheel drive car ever made. In S2 format they are holding value around the £12-15k mark, you wont loose a penny and so easy to work on. To the day still the most developed Lotus ever made. I love them. Can you tell?

Nice choice. We had a couple at work when they came out. Always tried to grab one. If they weren’t available, second choice was the original MX5 followed reluctantly by 944, which felt like a tank in comparison. Thanks for the memories.

"Best FWD car" is still a FWD car...but I'm glad someone likes torque steer!

I hate myself for this, but if you want reliable, reasonable, and abundant pieces/parts...

People joke about them, but there’s one on my driveway next to our Cooper S, and wind, rain or shine, I’ll always pick up the keys to the MX if I’m heading out to work or the shops etc. Roof down motoring in seconds, it’ll always start and the AC works, it returns near 40mpg, and you can drive it like you stole it without worrying about blue lights. It might be the perfect car.
The catch, and maybe the only catch though, it’s no where near special enough to be anything other than the other daily sitting on the driveway

Agreed; have had a couple. The manual transmission is the primary reason, plus the cheap/reliable/abundant spares & mod options piece. Definitely doesn't have a real soul, in my opinion. But in trying to check all the boxes and still get to run around topless, it seems like a solid choice.

I really, really, really wanted the Fiat attempt to be better...and it was somehow worse.

On the subject of TVRs, and as it's Euromillions Hope Night (swiftly followed by Disappointment Saturday), I keep ogling this: https://theautolounge.co.uk/stock/tvr-t440r-1-of-1-worldwide/

Of course, there are about 30 things you could buy instead. ****, I even have a list of cars further up my own list. But there's something utterly beguiling about it, and being a one of one makes it very interesting...

I didn’t know this was a ‘thing’ before you shared the link… wow!

Well, quite. If I was totally rational, I'd probably go for a Sagaris – this one, actually https://www.fernhurst-tvr.co.uk/car-details.php?id=613 – and spend £110,000 on keeping it going.
But if I was truly rational I wouldn't be on a Maserati forum.
Rational isn’t the first adjective that comes to mind when I think of a Sagaris!

I saw this one and a handful of other TVRs at a meet last year, the bonkers styling can only truly be appreciated in the flesh… love it.

Think I sat in that at the NEC. Drove a T350C once and was impressed; I can only imagine the Sagaris to be even better. Strangely I could fit in those but I found I couldn't get in a Tuscan.

I had a T350T and I drove a Sagaris and both are fantastic but you just have to get used to them to get the best out of them. I used my T350T daily which made it all the better than stuck in a garage everyday and only used now and again. I would have one again but I would go T350 as for me it is a prettier car than the Sagaris and I don’t think after driving one they are worth double the price of a T350…

And yet you've sold every one you've ever had....

But you do that to move into the next one. Lots of cars I wish I had kept but they had to go to make way for what came next as there are too many cars out there to try. Some after living with them we’re not as good as the ones that came before.
