Oil pressure but not the usual suspects

Whilst my car is in having some AC repairs and a complete set of new hoses I had the oil pressure sensor changed as when I revved the engine the oil pressure sometimes dropped alarmingly. The garage fitted a replacement item from David Askew but with this fitted the guage read a full 5 bar at idle but when warm and revved the guage dropped almost to zero. Thinking it may be a faulty unit they ordered and fitted another one but with the same results. When a traditional guage is connected it shows 80 PSI when cold ( when revved the pressure relief valve cuts in ) and 70 PSI when hot so the oil pressure is absolutely fine. The garage suspect it may be an electrical issue as the voltage guage on the binacle shows 12v but the battery voltage shows 14.4v. I am going to try getting a genuine Maserati sensor from Eurospares but was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem.

Having taken the car on a short enthusiastic drive the guage suddenly flicked over to 5 and stayed there at anything over 2000 rpm when hot and and dropped to 4 at idle so I can only assume it was a "faulty" sensor that cleared itself after a few cycles of hot / cold.
