Whilst waiting for jim to fix my relay issue .....

Changed oil and filter.
To get at the filter you really need to remove the oil cooler and hoses they are just in the way.
The oil hoses need a 32mm spanner and the housing probably 30mm I used an adjustable spanner.

Mann filter - as there are no Maserati ones left, a little smaller but fits well and screws in fine.

Fuel filter.
Whoever put that in the tank should be shot !!

Tank is reasonably easy to remove.

Two straps in the boot remove filler hose and the roll over valve. A couple of electrical connectors and an earth to the tank.

Removing the fuel was a pig.

There are two pipes that stick out the bottom of the tank on the drivers side. I cut the rubber hoses and allowed the fuel to drain out. Down my arm, over the floor, over the exhaust and suspension..... eventually I got a bit of garden hose over the cut pipe and that helped drain it into a bucket and fuel cans. The lawn mover will be running on super unleaded for months !!

The access panel isa couple a 8mm nuts and then you can see the fuel filter.

It looks a little different to the one I was sent !!

I managed to get the correct one and will send it back.

crikey Graham-

I can't believe you've managed that- I looked into it a few years back and decided I couldn't undo the feeds on the underside from the tank (underneath)

It never occurred to me to cut the hoses...

Could you post a link to the correct filter..?

Good effort

(if you PM me your number again; these little electrical 'niggles' could be sorted much faster!)

That's a crazy location. I think I should point out the panel gaps on the Fez are awful. You should look at those too.

Been there and done it with the fuel filter.
Going round sharp corner or roundabout quickly car would die. Worked out **** in the filter was sloshing around and starving the pump.
Got replacement filter (actually I bought 2...thinking of the future) and garage fitted it. Fuel was very low when they did it. They took muck out the tank at the same time.
Car came with 25 years of "full history" (MD and specialist) but given the low mileage and the state of the "old" filter I am guessing it possibly has never been done before despite being a service item.
Mind you I replaced the plugs as well and garage told me 5 of the plugs were in good condition but number 6 is a difficult job to do and when they eventually took it out it was obvious from the state of the plug and also airbox clips lying in there that it had not been changed in many a long year.
I still have a spare filter so can get details of that if anyone needs one. From memory I got it from David Askew.
Good luck with the rest of the work.

that's interesting Stewart;

did the tank look much the same as the Ghibli?

Did the garage have to remove it from the car also..?

"Think" the filter on mine was external but it is a Weber filter that was/is fitted.
They took the tank out but my tank looks smaller from memory. They needed access to filter and the sender and tank out was the easy bit.

All done and back together.

Make sure you reconnect the pump cable to the underneath of the tank access panel, other wise it doesn’t start .....

This cross references to the Maserati part number.

It is a little smaller than the original one so I had to wrap some plastic around it to make it tight in the holder.

Nice work.

I've just opened mine lately to replace the in-tank fuel filter. But there was nothing in there. Only a single external one. I though Biturbos had two external ones Ghiblis one external, one internal, but mine only has an external.

I have one external. 2 (internal or external) seems overkill?

This is a 2.24v diagram

57305

No. 8 should be a Weber FI-02/2, no. 29 Weber FI-01/1

I somehow though they moved the pump and one filter to the tank and kept one filter outside. Seems like only one was kept, first outside (while pump was moved inside) then moved inside the filter too.
