I've worked in several offices with bean to cup machines and never rated them at all, for the quality. Looks like there was something wrong. One of them was using Illy which is normally passable if nothing else!

You need to use decent beans - most offices use cheap mild roasted ones

We’ve had Jura machines for the past 10 years. Bean to cup, fabulous machines and great service from here in the UK, up in Colne. They do have offers, the ex-display are often at a huge discount, and when they service your machine it comes back as new. I purchased the last one from Germany via Amazon because it was a stonking deal and the exchange rate was good ( remember those days?). The Delonghi machines come with good feedback (well, from my boss), and Curry’s have had some good offers on recently. I think Lakeland will let you test some machines in their stores, if you’re not locked down etc etc etc..

Tried various drip / filter methods but all ab it style over substance. Have even thought about getting a percolator instead of using hipster deconstructed methods.
Just me at home drinking coffee, so not investing in expensive kit. The coffee shop machines only produce great coffee when skilfully operated. The investment means throughput is needed to make a return of course. Seems that machine needs regular use and cleaning to stay in shape so not viable for domestic use. For that reason I don't bother having machine at home. Same reason I don't have a professional tyre changer for my cars. (Yet) Drifted this thread back toward car chat ;)
