Hi all,
Still hanging around, still haven't bought a 4200 yet, still haven't sold my Lotus yet to release funds.
Can't do much about it all really during this lockdown. It does give me chance to do more car research and come up with more questions though
Currently I'm daily changing my mind between manual and Cambiocorsa.
Head says manual for simplicity.
Heart says CC for fun and better choice of cars.

Another question if I may:
With CC, when pulling away the clutch slips until about 1500rpm when it becomes fully engaged?
I fairly regularly (until lockdown) visit friends who live up a 3/4 mile track which needs to be driven up at around walking pace. In situations such as this, would the clutch be slipping all the time or if you started above the clutch engagement point, say 1500rpm then slowed down to just above tick over would the clutch stay engaged and not slip?

I've definitely got too much thinking time on my hands....

Cambio Corsa is Great for driving and not what you describe there and being stuck in traffic if you want the clutch to last.
My advice get a Range Rover as well.

My farm track is not that long c500yards but I still get 1% wear per 1k miles... people worry too much about clutch wear on the CC box, usually down to being poorly informed.

I have had 4200s since 2008 and only bought 1 clutch and that was on the garage queen!

Thanks chaps.
Hmmm Range Rover may be overkill, but I could suggest it to the boss.

It wasn't so much the wear I was worried about, more just that slipping a clutch for 3/4 mile could overheat other things and make an almighty stink. Just trying to fathom out the exact workings of CC. (I'm a design engineer and like to know how things work)
As I said, too much thinking time available.

Andy, worth dropping a line to Matt / Conaero at SportsItalia (if you haven't already). I know they have sourced cars in the past and might know if a good 4200 comes up in manual or cc.

That's a good plan.
I think once funds are available I might put word out to a few of the other specialists as well.
It would be nice to find one where it could be properly looked at, not just me, led on a bit of cardboard with a torch in hand.

Or get his friends to visit instead. How much is resufacing? Cheaper than an rr.
