Arrrrggggg planned on getting to the bottom of this....and low and behold they work fine this weekend. ..so my methodology is to turn the volume to zero and switch the unit off before I turn the car off...that seems to work for now!

Check the loom where it goes from the door to the body, the constant flexing breaks the wires overtime.

I have a full set of auditorium speakers if you need them.

Thanks Matt,

Wire seem OK, Had the door card off yesterday to check a micro-switch (Those cars must way about 5kg!!) I suspect it may be the Amp, but its a pricy item to replace, and if it was not for the unique wiring conector I would replace with a far better unit.

I had a fault with a dash speaker, it was working at times, other times not. If you pushed down on speaker, it worked fine.

I removed the cover, unscrewed the speaker and re-soldered the wires coming from the cone to the push-on connectors, all fine now.

So the saga continues...I believe its the Amp in the boot as I now have just the rear left working (although I had all working the other day).

Any electronic wizards out there who know how to check an amp and replace any blown parts?

Anyone???...a new ASK amp is over £600 from the dealer and Eurospares so would prefer to have the old unit checked for faults...or does anyine know how or where I can get a adapter so I can change to a more robust unit without cutting the harness?

Up date - Removed the Auditorium amplifier in readiness to have it repaired or replaced, what a job that is...real bugger to get to behind the battery. Once removed I got to thinking about the 26 pin IOS plug and if I could match an adaptor so that any replacement would retain the harness and plugs so any future owner could revert to standard.

Searched the internet to no avail and thought about making one...then on second inspection noted that the ASK Amp wiring loom splits into two and at the end of these they connect to the main loom towards the front of the car. Low and behold the IOS blocks are mated, male and female at the amp end and the same on the loom end. I removed the amps loom and connected the two main loom ends together to make a perfect fit...and hey-presto the speakers all work.

The new head unit has a built in amp so no need to use the Auditorium one and the system works great.

I suspect you may be able to bi-pass all the factory amps and fit a in-line amp to retain the integrity of your looms if req

So I now have a dodgy ASK amp which I would like to have repaired...any electronics gurus out there who would like to have a go at finding out whats in there, whats wrong, and how to repair and save forum members £800?

btw the same ASK amp is fitted to the Ferrari 360, 430, and 550.
