Sad news and a true gentleman.
I remember watching that save against Brazil on mum and dads black and white tele.

Memory tells me he was guarding the wrong post and when the cross came over he had to scamper to the other side.
Meanwhile Pele was climbing higher than any one else (perfect timing) to meet the cross which he executed perfectly heading it down toward the goal line.
GB got down to it with his finger tips and somehow he put it over.
Remarkable!

Your right it was the perfect header which made the save even more remarkable.

When my son was small my wife took him to a house round the corner to play with some other kids , she asked me to get something from the shop and bring it round

I knocked on the door and Gordon Banks opened it , I just stood there with my mouth open, and said you're Gordon Banks., he said I am, come in

I didn't know the house we were in belonged to his daughter, a really nice guy, his wife was one of the most down to earth people I've ever met, no Bentley outside, she was happy M&S had some trousers Gordon wanted in stock as they hadn't got them in Stoke
