Unfortunately this has to go to make room for the Maserati. The wife won't let me keep both, apparently we have better things to spend the money on :(
So after 3 years owning this amazing machine, it's time for someone else to enjoy it.
Anyone fancy a bit of all season fun?

68000 miles but has had an easy life! The previous owner commuted in it for 5 years, mainly on the dual carriageway, which lead to the original brake discs lasting an unbelievable 64k miles before needing to be replaced!
I have had it for the last 3 years covering around 16000 miles in that time, and have treated it with the utmost mechanical sympathy. Always warmed up with gentle driving and cooled down for the last few miles if been driven spiritedly. Always run on Tesco99 or v-power.

Launch counter = Zero, Oil temps in normal range, and clutch overheat protection never activated. All can be proved on EcuTek software.

That looks cool.. I've always fancied one of those after a lunchtime 10 minute thrash around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in the summer

Amazingly fast! Best of luck with the sale Sam

It'll be far too quick for people on here

I suspect the other fact is that it's far too quick for public roads, just like all of our cars! Stlll, that's part of the attraction. Talk softly and carry a big stick, etc.

Smashing looking car in red, Tim. Good luck with a fast sale.

Very nice....the best colour combo I've seen on a GTR and red really suits it. I never normally like red and black but that is spot on.

Well done on the sale. There does seem to be a good market for GTR's. When we did Brunty the queue for rides in the GTR's outstripped all other Marques.

Are GTR's quite expensive to maintain? Also very harsh/hard? That was my impression as an outsider.

Not heard too many maintenance horror stories but the modification options are always there to tempt your wallet open. Never been in one so can't comment on the ride harshness but I understand they have the same lack of charm character that the R33 & 34 had, great cars just don't stir the soul too much function over form is my understanding

My friend ran on modded by knight racer (I think), is fairly well off, and always told stories of the dreadful maintenance costs and things always breaking or needing replacement. Bushes (heavy car) and gearbox being the big ones I can remember.

My impression is supercar speed with supercar running costs.

I am sure they are lovely to own/drive but many other cars I would rather own ahead of them, my current GTS included.

Cheers for all the comments guys.
I REALLY enjoyed owning it. They are amazing machines. The traction and speed is just phenomenal, especially once (even mildly) tuned like mine was. And I was really surprised at the attention it got, from all generations. I think the colour helped as you don't see many in red.

What Maserati are you getting?
GLWTS

Granturismo MC-shift :)

Well deserved mate, that was a cracking car!

Told you it would sell easy, well prepared car, solid factual advert with stunning photos and keen price, A perfect example of how to sell a car

It does seem to make a massive difference, the quality of the ad and a sensible price. No point in putting it up at a high price just in case someone might come along. - To get it sold you end up having to lower it to a value below the amount you could have got just by being fair in the first place and no-one likes a car that's been for sale for months as they assume there is something wrong with it.
Although I do feel I may have been able to get more, as I only had it for sale on a couple of forums for a few days and got asking price without any bother. Oh well, onwards and upwards!

I'm estimating that servicing costs at a respectable indi would work out about the same as a Granturismo averaged over a few years. The Maserati services are more expensive, but only every 12k or 2 years. I do about 6k a year, so for me a service every 2 years. With the GTR the services are much cheaper but as per schedule on a pre 2011 GTR I serviced it every 6 months, so 4 times in the same 2 years!
The post 2011 cars were extended to 12mths or 9k (for no other reason other than Nissan had a better idea of their longevity by then) the engine and gearbox was the same. So many owners changed to the 12mth schedule.

GTR Parts are 'a bit' cheaper, mainly due to being more available from aftermarket sources than the Maserati.

You can get the occasional big bill - usually gearbox related on pre-2013 models. Nissan want £23k for a replacement box as they won't repair them. But there are a few specialists that will and that is normally between £2k - £6k to fix and upgrade some internals so it won't happen again. I got stung with a 5k bill within 6 months of getting it due to the gearbox, so that was a bit of a downer. But once done, they're pretty built proof at around 600bhp/ 600lbft

To give you an idea, not including tyres, during my 3 year ownership I spent £7250 on maintenance (including the 5k gearbox work) so £2.4k a year for me, which sounds a lot, because it is. lol
But over the 9 year life of the car, service costs have been circa £14.5k (I had all the receipts) . So on average £1.6k per year. Which is much more reasonable for a car if its capabilities.

And a big thing with the GTR is they hold their money so well, and are much less mileage sensitive than a masser. My 3 year/16k miles ownership cost me just £1.5k in depreciation !
If I'd bought an MC-shift when I bought the GTR, I'd probably be 20k down by now! In fact, I've only owned my MC-shift 3 weeks and I've probably lost more already seeing how the prices are going o_O

Regarding how they drive- Before the GT-R I'd pretty much only owned Front engine RWD cars, because that's what I liked, so was quite nervous that other than the speed of it, I'd find the GT-R a bit boring due to all it's grip and electronics.
The way it drove exceeded my expectations. Although there is lots of electrickary going on every 100th of a second or so, you just can't tell. It feels so mechanical and not at all detached, it really is surprising. It probably helps that it sounds very mechanical as well. Sometimes clonking and clicking like a tractor
default_lol.gif
when when your doing low speed parking maneuvers. You can hear the drivetrain most of the time. But it certainly gives it character.
The early ones are quite a stiff/bumpy ride but not to the point of it being a problem, especially if you change the run-flat tyres for some MPSS or similar. But to be honest, I liked it that way as it felt more raw and 'racy'. And my wife never complained, so it can't be that bad. ;)
I've had the pleasure of driving some new GT-Rs and they are far too soft and quiet for my liking, much more like a fast German barge than a Japanese Iconic supercar killer that the earlier ones were. But each to their own.

Hope that helps anyone that is curious about them. Any more questions, ask away.
