That may well be a car I was offered and it had no history at all. If it's lost, it can probably be chased up, but if it's never had any servicing, firstly, I'd be amazed, secondly, I'd leg it.

I'd be amazed too, but it's not impossible. Mileage looks to be genuine. It had a couple of fixes in May 2014:

  • Test date 5 May 2014
  • Test Result Fail
  • Odometer reading 27,378 miles
  • MOT test number 7467 8522 4119
  • Reason(s) for failure
Nearside Front Subframe mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded (2.4.A.3)
Offside Rear coil spring broken (2.4.C.1a)
A few phone calls to main dealers could yield evidence of it being serviced. Could be a bargain for someone prepared to do their homework, but you'd want to check that subframe mounting repair - could be a new subframe, which would be pretty easy to spot. Should be well, well, under £16k!

Hold on, thinking about it... It's had significant corrosion at 7 years old. It's being sold in Scotland, which has salt on the roads for much longer than the south of England. Everything underneath exposed to road salt is likely to be much more corroded than cars from down south.

If it's been serviced at a main dealer or someone with an SD3 (and they bothered to reset the indicator) then there will be a log of sorts in the instrument cluster ECU.

thread resurrection - have been doing some regular research on number of cars for sale just now and this came up - its been on sale since late last year in Newcastle.
Limited Service history and seller quite reluctant to provide any information on the car - I asked for clutch wear read out which is pretty fundamental for any Duoselect/CC car and was told maybe its not the car I'm looking for with what I have politely agreed and confirmed I shall not be wasting my time...

Currently at £14k, reduced from £15k

Also I questioned why DVLA states 2010 as date of first registration - "the vehicle was originally registered in 2007 and then reregistered in the UK in 2010 after being in Ireland."
Not sure what to make of it - would be worth a punt at £10k but not at £14k if it needs a clutch and hasn't been serviced in last couple of years...

Mine was in Ireland until 2017, hence is comes up on insurance quotes etc as a 2017 car. Something to consider, there might be a VRT refund due on it, if it wasn't claimed back on export, would be a £6/7k if so!

Decided I don't like the mesh grille anymore tho - looks too 'open'...

Looking at current pricing for QP duoselects, 10k would be above a stretch for that car!

Could bag a similar full auto for 12-13k

Doesnt seem to be reflected in sellers expectations! Plenty cars on the marker for 6+ months and not dropping prices. Funny thing is I actually prefer duoselect now to Auto since I can stomach clutch replacement at some point but I am scared of potential variator issues in 07-10 range of cars....

My point exactly. With a potential clutch replacement and variatiors, that bill could easily go to 30-40% of the car's market value!

Sellers of these cars need to be mindful of these aspects especially duoselect sellers. If I was selling a DS I would give it the best chance of selling and this is achieved by giving a clear clutch read-out or indeed replacing it before a sale (if needed). Everything else is standard haggling.
