I saw it a few weeks ago alongside their Shamal, both were nice looking cars albeit a bit pricey. The Biturbo is badged as a 'Racing' model and I wasn't aware that there was a Racing convertible - no staff around at the time so I couldn't ask.

There was never a Racing Spyder, only a coupe, so some idiot has just stuck those badges on. It isn’t even a Spyder with a Racing engine fitted, the Racing engine is a 2 litre 24v, that car has a 2.8 18v. Biturbo Racing was manual only, that car has an invalid’s gearbox, they ain’t fooling anyone. Just to confirm, the Racing was Italian market only, LHD only, Coupe only, 2 litre only, manual only, red or black only, full leather in black or grey only, 210 examples built.

There were a few Spyders registered on M plates

Well spotted Dicky, though in fairness to Meridien they do describe it as a 2.8 and they don't ascribe 'Racing' to it other than by way of a photo. Maybe the last owner just stuck the name on and they don't want to risk damaging the paint by removing it.

Like the one we’ve just sold, rare thing too:

Did it remain in the UK Dicky? Racings are very sought after in Europe but almost unknown here

Even with the auto box that Spyder appeals. Can imagine a gentle trundle to a country pub with that. Great colour, too.

I wonder if it’s the same car that was in the recent CCA sale?

That Racing was so tempting, glad the house move took so much time as if it hadn't I could have seen me making a trip to see it which would have almost certainly ended up with me in trouble with the wife... Again

RHD 2.8 Spyder is still a pretty rare car and there will be few in this condition.
Worth every penny! :)
