Looks like there are more than one Granturismo with the unique gold wrap - the other one is a GC. I can’t imagine driving it around with the top down.

Not sure if this guy in YouTube is a member here as well, but this guy has even bigger balls to drive a gold GC with the top down :).

Evening Gents,

When starting the GTS I'm getting the parking brake failure alert in yellow coming up more than ever. It usually sorts itself if I switch off and on a couple of times but A, I sound as well as look a D1ck, and B, the battery died today on my third "off and on" attempt. I noticed there's a "park off" interior switch but this doesn't seem to do anything. Is my fault common? It flags up saying take it to the main dealer but it also said that when my side light stopped working :D.

What is the point of this automatic brake anyway?

Cheers
Dale

Fault is not common. Check the boot for leakage (the EPB unit is in the bottom of it)
The Park Off button is the one you should use (pretty much) every time you stop the car. Go into park, press and hold the button and you'll get the EPB Off message. This stops the (pointless) EPB engaging and the shoes bonding to the drum with the the possibility of wreaking havoc.

Hi Catman

I've never used the park off button, I only use the finger switch handbrake. I'm useless with cars, would checking the boot for leakage be something you would trust a normal local garage to have a look at?

My day got even worst when the headlight and foglight switch came off in my hand too. And I backed Middlesboro heavily this evening. Day from ****

It’s also just one of those things. Annoying, disconcerting, but benign.

Thanks for your reply.

It sound's like you're familiar with my situation? Am I being naive and making things worse (engine wear and tear too) for turning it off and on multiple times? My closest main dealer is almost 100 miles away so I don't fancy that.

Really appreciate your replies. Cheers

Learn to use the park off. Any garage should be able to check the boot for leakage. It's not rocket science. However, if the ECU is damaged then you're in dealer, or at least indiependent world.
Where are you located?

If I remember righty, this issue went away for me more or less at the same time as I fitted a new battery. More or less. Perhaps there was some Italian learning to do post-new battery.

Never had it when I was having battery issues either. Not on its own anyway

I was just thinking I'd read this before....
Also if your battery can't start your car two or three times in a row without going flat, I'd suggest it might be time for a new one anyway.
Is it in regular daily use?
Using the Park off is a good idea too. Although using the e E-brake occasionally to stop it seizing up.
When you get this light, does the brake actually stay on? ie what happens if you try to drive off?

The battery died yesterday on third or 4th attempt of "off and on" to release the brake.

Once jump started it didn't come on.

This problem could be battery related as it's been worse as my battery has deteriorated due to lack of use through winter months. I'd go a week or 2 without using it - and not on trickle charge either so I fully expect the battery needing an overnight charge. I will do that tonight and hopefully start improving things.

When the yellow error is on ( and yes it stays on) the brakes are def on as it wont move.

Could my park off button be broken as nothing happens when I press it.

Just reading my manual it it says the "park off" button could be deactivated. I will try to reactivate the button later. Also it confirms the ECB activation/deactivation failures could be due to low battery voltage.

Sounds like a good charge and or new battery would be a good place to start then.
Best to invest in a trickle charger if its going to be standing for a week or so at a time.

Thanks Sam, I've just started it and battery was OK, took the second start up to get EPB off. The park off button does work but it doesn't deactivate the EPB unfortunately. I look forward to using a trickle in future ad giving a whole days charge to see if that helps the EPB deactivate upon ignition.

New problem, This button has always been loose and now it's fallen off into my hand. Cheapest on ebay is £199 delivered for the whole unit but it's in beige. My interior in black.
