Matt-S,
Not long ago I was looking for a 4200 and as you are doing I listened and asked lot's of questions. I decided that I would try and find a facelift model, The main reasons for this were the upgrades to the CC box, steering and brakes. The facelift model is very close in many respects to the Maserati GS model. Take some care, there are lot's of quite rough cars out there, I saw a few of them, I also had a number of these inspected by an independent Maserati specialist and was so glad I did, I could have bought a number of dogs, thankfully I was saved from this mistake. A clutch will last around 25k miles, but even if the dealer says it has a clutch reading of 50%, get this checked, the readings can be played with..!! Every car advertised is the best available, or so the dealer would like you to think, that's their job. You could not go far wrong by talking to someone like Richard Grace Cars, a member on here and has some excellent quality vehicles.
One of those you highlighted from a trader earlier in the thread, the engine bay was absolutely filthy, not a good sign of care and attention..?? I considered the second car myself and the fourth, they have been on the market for a while.
All the best in your search.
Cheers

Ross,
That's a good thing mate, going in blind is the worse thing you can do. You did absolutley the right thing and found out what you needed to know, I did similar and asked other members what they thought, also asked local dealers if they had knowledge of specific cars I was interested in. The worst that could happen is that you don't ask and finish up buying an absolute dog and spending a fortune on it.

Matt-S,
Sent you a PM.
If you look at the car, check the drivers seat bolster, it looks to have a patch in the normal place that is ready for a repair, could help to get the price down..?? Check the tyres, they are £200 each and it must have a good service history at either a Maserati Dealer, or a Maserati Specialist, not Joe Bloggs Garage.
Cheers

Wise words from the forum.

I'd suggest a chat with Dicky Grace who is always happy to give some general pointers even if he doesn't have the car you are looking for right away.

Thanks Rob - I thought so.

There's a lot of info out there, but this forum makes it pretty easy.
