Newbie from The Netherlands, hoping to acquire a 4200 this year

I'd advise you to consider the European market as a whole, and go and see the cars that pass a first 'filter' (for instance: right colour, options, good history, recent maintenance, clear communication from seller etc et).
Based on that, my assumption is not that many cars will remain. Out of those, you could consider which ones are worth a trip to go and see.

Just my 2 cents...

I realise that I'm still a relative new comer to ............ whatever this is
However, so long as it more closely resembles the former (below) and not the latter.
I shall be content to pledge allegiance :drinks:

My main love of this forum is that it's all things to all people ,as the tart said to the vicar I'll be who ever you want me to be ,it's still £50 quid though and £25 for virgins ,I'm still saving up

"All things to all people" is an insightful observation. I think in large part, that's down to effective and efficient moderation. To me, it feels like, but not quite, a decent gentleman's club. Lacking only a physical presence and a Ritz-like Front of House team.

This red (manual) 4200 just came for sale in The Netherlands, and because of the color and GS wheels, I think it looks great.

I have driver Ferrari's F430 with the automatic gearbox. Is the experience in a 4200 automatic the same?
I have not driven a manual Maserati yet, and am a bot afraid when reading the clutch issues / costs that can occure.

What are your ideas / best practices?
What do you think about the car offered above? The price is for a 4200 a bit high, but the looks could justify the higher price for me.

Let me know your thoughts :)

That looks great, and a bonus being manual!
I would still get an independent inspection done, perhaps AS could do it?
Not a bad call that. AS know a lot about the underside of these cars and that's the main source of any concerns. The top bit is just shiny stuff, you can assess that yourself along with maintenance history and general condition. Clutch wear will be a good bargaining point once known.

Thanks all. Have been in contact with AS and if possible will stop at them for a review of the car on Thursday during my testdrive.

What is your opinion on the red color. I honestly think it looks amazing, but most 4200's are in more 'decent' colors.
Would red increase / decrease the value of the car?

Will keep you posted after my visit on Thursday

Enjoy the test drive - and good move to have AS have a look. You couldn't have chosen a better place.
Tell Adnan I said hi! (and have a look at the blue GS Spyder there :) )

I personally find the red absolutely gorgeous, but taste is a personal thing.
First of all, I wouldn't think it would affect resale value - but that is just gut feeling, it all comes down to 1 (or more) buyer wanting it.
Secondly, are you planning on keeping the car for a considerable amount of time? (e.g., if you don't intend ever selling it - who cares)
And lastly: it's your car, don't think about the next owner - think about yourself

What a lovely 4200. Red just looks perfect on these cars and it is a shame that there aren’t more red ones out there instead of the all the boring blacks and greys….

Will say hi :). An intention is to keep it until I maybe can buy a Ferrari... ;-)

That 4200 looks great in red and with those wheels. I'm still surprised by the value/prices of these cars across mainland Europe - that car would be worth less than half the asking price if it was a UK car.

It’s the same with Granturismo’s. I looked when I was after a LHD GT, prices were much much higher in Germany than over here. Luckily I found a LHD in the UK and paid UK price.

Unfortunately, I'm not in the UK ;-)

Together with Adnan (thanks for the tips!!!) we did a thorough inspection of the car and unfortunately there was too much wrong with it, so I didn't buy it.

Still looking for a good 4200GT or maybe even a GrandSport.....so open for suggestions / tips :).

There's a suspiciously cheap Gransport in the Netherlands for sale on Autoscout24 right now - it is black with black though.

Hoi Chris,
Succes met de zoektocht!
The black one is suspiciously cheap indeed, but its milage is quite high also.
Both licence plates have a "1" on it, could have something to do with repaired damages or at least lost plates...
Thorough investigation needed.
Clutch/driveline/accumulators on engine and gearbox, all ok?
Heater core....etc.
