Arent the Jeep engines essentially Fiat built truck engines? Think they are. I used to have a 2009 Jeep Cherokee ( Liberty) 2.7 CRD and it was like driving a taxi most of the time...but great off road though.
They are VM Motori built engines. Although Fiat now own VM, the A630HP was originally a General Motors designed engine which was never used by GM but sold off to FCA. VMs own engines are actually very reliable, they have been used by many manufacturers including Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Rover, London taxis etc and their marine engines are good too. Shame this one is an absolute dud

If you had a 2009 2.7 in your Jeep that would have been a Mercedes engine, which to be fair they should have stuck with, I have the same V6 Diesel in my E Class and its a cracking motor!

A 2009 Merc engine in an E Class would be the W211. They upgraded it to W212 in 2011/2 and then W213 in 2017.

Which is what I had in mine, and agree it's a great engine and pretty bomb proof. Even if it does lack a little power compared to it's competition these days.

I thought the w212/212/213 were the model reference for the entire car. You know these chaps are talking about the engines right?

I thought W211/212/213 was in reference to the engine and model, however, happy for someone to confirm otherwise.

Thinking about it. W211/2/3 must be the model as they have various engine in the range.

I’ll go sit back in the corner with my dunce cap on.

Yes the W is the model designator. I have 2 x W211 and a W213 on the taxi fleet. Well technically they are actually S211 and S213 as they are all estate cars, (W indicates the saloon variant) the older W211 cars are way better built than the newer ones which are pretty shoddy especially in terms of interior build quality and materials, Its only saving grace is that the 2.1 litre 4 cylinder diesel with the 9 speed auto manages 64 mpg.
