Thanks Guys,
So from what's been said here the light should go off automatically once a working sensor is detected. Does that mean it's likely to come back on if I don't have the fault history cleared on the ECU? So far I have racked up £250 in diagnostic charges so don't want to have another if not entirely necessary.

I would say not, only one way to really find out though.

Most of the systems are self check each time you start the car. Checks each sensors on say the ABS for example and if no errors or out of range / tollerance messages are recieved then the warning light will go out within a second of starting your car. Same with things like maf sensors etc.

Always exceptions to the rule such as airbag light and EPB i cant think of any others off the top of my head. I would be fairly confident that if a new sonsor is fitted it will self check on starting the car as usual and the light will go out.

You wont need to worry about clearing any stored codes.

You can disconnect each strut top from the system which will throw an error which after reconnection and engine restart will clear.

Thank you. That makes perfect sense to me so just need to locate a sensor which is turning out to be a challange in itself. Eurospares, Maranello, HR Ownen and my Main Dealers have all confirmed no stock with them or at Maserati so I guess I will have to locate a used spare that someone is prepared to stand behind as working. If anyone has one they could sell to me please get in touch.

I don't know about the epb. I had that when I changed shoes. Threw a wobbly and lit up. Left for 20mins, turned on, cycled epb a couple of times, shut down and lights went out on next start. Guess it depends on fault it is seeing.

It does depend on the fault. If the car cant work out what position the epb is in after a loss of power or fault it wont always cycle after a battery reset. Depending on the car / epb system being used there is often another user reset procedure or overide. Some audi's for example have a hidden overide button. There have been occasions im aware of that the only way round it was a diagnostic reset.
