Hi all,

I'm Drew (a.k.a OnePaintedMan on many marque forums). I'm looking forward to reading lots of useful advice on here as I embark on a hunt for a Gran Turismo

I'm currently running a small collection of cars (2001 Alfa Romeo GTV Cup V6, 1994 Porsche 968 Sport, 1970 RHD Citroën DS21 Pallas EFI and a Supercharged & intercooled 1990 Eunos Roadster). I have decided to rationalise it somewhat and buy one car to run instead as it will hopefully be easier to manage. I'm not sure how successful I'll be in letting them all go (the love for 3ach runs deep), but at least two will need to disappear to release enough funds to fulfil my long held dream (since childhood) of owning a Maserati.

Wish me luck (I like buying but don't like selling ) . . .

Love those DS's - but not sure I CBA with an old car now - farting about with chokes, radial tyres, windup windows - need my comforts!

I can guarantee that there is NO car more comfortable than a DS If there us one car that I will not sell, it'll probably be that one (Despite it financially ruining me ).

Welcome, I'm nearly 18mnths in to GranTurismo ownership (albeit from bottom of the market) and love it.

If you are in Bucks I plan to run it at Kop Hill Climb this year subject to me getting accepted - was touch and go last year and then of course cancelled!

Would love to see that. I go to Kop Hill Climb every year (Except last year obviously). It's only a 20 min drive from me.

That is a very nice looking cup, you obviously look after your cars well

Thanks. I do try and keep my cars in fine fettle. It's a fantastic car with an epic soundtrack from that Busso V6. Only the potential of a Maserati purchase would be enough to persuade me to part with it.

Ah maybe. But you will still be able to fart about and fix these long after the ECU’s and all the other modern trickery in a post 90’s car goes wrong but the manufacturer and dealer is no longer willing or able to fix them as they’ve moved onto electric and no longer have the diagnostics or spares. About 2030 or thereabouts I think!

That's exactly why I'm keeping my Renault 4.
Some friends picked up a dining chair yesterday and had great difficulty getting it in the back of a flash new Peugeot SUV I said do you want me to run it over in the 4
Next time I meet the forum we should see how many we can get in it :)

Welcome.

Rationalising the fleet should give you purchase power to buy most Maseratis... any idea which one you desire?

A 2009 - 2011 Gran Turismo Auto, in Oceano, with Avorio or Sabbia leather.

I have some other calls on funds too, so I'd probably be looking at a £25k purchase budget.

I've been out of work since September though, so waiting until I land a new job before I take the plunge (Better to face the maintenance and running costs with a steady income)! It gives me time to do my research thoroughly.

Good luck job and GT hunting. I assume the EUNOS is for track days? If so, that and the Pallas are good contrasts so it is either 968 or GTV to go. I think I would keep the Cup. Whatever you do, get a GT checked over by an Independent specialist. Plenty on here.

Thanks Guy. A specialist inspection will be a given. I've had 4 Porsches in total and had every one inspected, pre-purchase. It's definitely always worth it! The Eunos is mainly for fast road use when I don't fancy a roof. I made the trip to the Nurburgring in it 6 years ago though (which then prompted the whole supercharger/power upgrade phase).

I'll be selling both the Cup and 968 when the time comes. I want to devote more time energy and finances to other things including a nice new garage with a lift. Running so many cars (Tax/maintenance/MOT's/insurance, etc) has just become a headache. I'd like to keep the Citroën, as it's just magnificent. I've already spent £6k in the last 12 months on that getting it mechanically overhauled and rewired, so I'd like to enjoy the investment. I've modified the Eunos extensively myself over 15 years and it's worth beans so won't ever leave.
