Hello all

new to the page! Have just put my deposit down on a GranTurismo S. can’t wait to get it home. Planning a trip to Italy in it this June!

Wondering if anyone has any route ideas to Italy with good roads and also if anyone has been to the Maserati factory?

Check with Maserati UK re the summer shut down at the factory. They will arrange your appointment once you have proof of ownership.

June should be OK to avoid the cyclists and caravans in Europe. Try the Route Napoleon on a Sunday morning from Grenoble to Grass.

Thanks for the reply’s. Struggling to plan my route as using google maps just takes me the most direct route and don’t want to miss things. Wondering if there are any routes already out there? Or how do others plan their route?

thanks

You can use the Michelin maps app I believe...
Then you can deny motorways etc..

https://www.viamichelin.co.uk/ offers a route option of 'Discovery' which is supposed to include scenic routes. No idea how good it is. And supposedly an option to completely avoid Switzerland, but that does not seem to work.

I tend to just eyeball the terrain on Google maps, and pick roads that look like they go through interesting places - forests, parks, lakeshores, mountains etc. And also just do searches for scenic routes and stumble across stuff: https://lazytrips.com/trip/scenic-road-trip-through-north-italy

I’m planning a similar trip in my GTS in August for a mates wedding near Lake Como. It’s looking like Day 1 - Epernay, Day 2 - Lake Constance, Day 3 - Davos, Zernez, Stelvio Pass, Lake Como. Days 2 & 3 following the ‘Discovery’ routes using the Michelin route planner. Also booked a couple of nice hotels including one that’s unfeasibly called Hotel Bad Horn !!

Totally agree Andy.
10 years ago and driving my first 4200 down to the Italian lakes 4 up and no spare wheel was amazing.

When we did R66 in 2017 the planning was great fun especially as the girls (aged 6&7) got involved. They were insistent we visited the Rabbit Ranch which made me smile. Rabbit ranch is similar to the Cadillac ranch but with VW Rabbits (Golfs) buried nose first into the ground - they were mightly upset when we got there
