New to the forum not the brand, I’ve had a biturbo (caught fire) 4200 manual which I loved, quattroporte cc which I hated to drive and cost me an absolute fortune in depreciation and now have just purchased a 2002 Spyder manual (1 of 40 uk cars) low mileage as a keeper.(for the wife…….not really!)
I have purchased some larini cats from a member and expect brakes will need doing at some stage was thinking of forum discs and ebc red stuff pads. Most things have been done over the years including a new clutch, gearbox oil, plugs etc.
My question is the heater matrix definitely going to fail at some stage or is it just pot luck?
any other suggestions or recommendations would be great appreciated as car is in for a service prior to collection.

Welcome and that is some Maserati history you have there. Interested in why you hated driving the QP so much ?

Welcome! Congrats on your latest purchase, you are clearly in it for the long run! Do share some pics :)

From my perspective, the heater matrix is a fairly common problem, but there are probably more owners here who haven’t had a failure than who have.

On brake pads (I know you didn’t ask) in the experience of the supplier of the uprated discs, they don’t like EBC pads and recommend Ferodo. I had yellow stuff in my Gransport and didn’t really rate them. But others swear by them so it really is personal choice.

first generation cambiocorsa didn’t suit the car as it’s heavy and slow witted, the proper auto was much more refined for this type of vehicle. It was ok in sport if you were pressing on though

That’s over 35years my father had a Khamsin from new in 1978 which got me into Masers. Took the sensible option with German cars in between but nothing has the emotion of Maserati.

Emotion. Not mere motion.
I think that that just about sums the marque up.
Welcome and kudos for taking the rough with the smooth.
Speaking of which. Your Spyder looks super smooth.
The leather colour is a superb contrast to the body.

I'm guessing it was the one in the car sales in Tewin?
I reckon this could be your car with a private plate, might be wrong but the chap was from Welwyn Garden and it was good condition and low mileage manual Spyder. It105408 may be a coincidence and not your car.

Congrats, what a lovely thing. The spyder always looks so classy, and the silver/red colour combo really suits it.

Plus, of course, manual is always the way to go! ;)

That's mine next to yours, it's called Verde Goodwood, a dark green, two manual Spyders together. Great day although the trees nearby that day give off a lot of sap and needed a good polish when I got home.
Hope you enjoy your car as much as I have mine.

BTW- its not sap that exudes from a tree's canopy, but what is commonly called "honeydew". It is the waste product, and comes from imsects who feed on the sap, and then "poop" the sticky mess on your lovely paint below....
I bet you've seen this phenomenon on TV, in the guise of ants seeming to farm the insects, rushing around gathering the exudate...

Maserati were notoriously bad at getting the models right when registering cars (some coupes were registered as spyders) but it’s definitely going to be in that somewhere in that region.
