New Spyder owner in France

Hi All

A quick intro.

I'm English but we moved to SW France about 6 years ago. Earlier this year I bought a RHD 2002 Spyder cambiocorsa. The car was imported from the UK and registered here by a previous english owner back in 2010. It's fairly low miles at circa 35k and has a good service history from the UK and France. However the heater matrix was clearly leaking (coolant smell) when I bought it and the clutch has never been replaced, though not slipping or playing up in anyway. Other than that everthing works it's also very clean and rustfree underneath, probably because of the French climate and no road salt. With the heater issue and original clutch, plus being RHD in France I feel I paid a "fair" price.

So to get some use from the car this summer I've by-passed the heater core and will replace it this autumn. The clutch, well we'll see! So far I'm just enjoying it, certainly a great engine. I'll admit the scuttle shake did bother me somewhat to begin with, but after a while I seem to have got used to it and hardly notice it most of the time.
I'm a lifelong car enthusiast and have a few other classics here, the roads and lower volume of traffic add to the enjoyment. I'd be interested if any other French Spyder/4200 owners know of any specialists in the SW area other than dealers, we live near Thiviers 24800.

79340 owner here. Mine are serviced in the U.K. so can’t assist with a French specialist I’m afraid, although there must be a few around.

Thanks all for the welcome. Safrane.. we're about 2 hours away from St Emillion. PhilW696.. yes we go across to that part of the Atlantic coast fairly often, usually near Royan or La Rochelle. Makes an enjoyable drive for us.

Totally agree love La Rochelle and the Island Île de ré just had 10 days around there.
