Hi,

After bottling it a few years ago I’m making a determined effort to join the ranks of Maserati owners. I’ve been looking at late Coupes and Gransports, I don’t want to spend more than £25k but happy to spend less. I have some questions that I haven’t been able to answer from the forum mainly about Coupe vs Gransport. I’ve been advised that the very late Coupes share a lot with the Gransport how similar are they? Secondly what is the situation regarding parts. I’ve read that they are becoming difficult to source. Is that true for all models or just the early ones? And finally does anyone know anything about this one?

It’s a lot of questions and I’d appreciate a bit of help. Thanks in advance.

Seem to think that this was posted recently...
Previously owned by a forum member if I’m right about that...the bonnet doesn’t look like the shut lines are quite right...? If you’re going to buy a CC box, might as well go for a gransport imo. Not that the later 4200 isn’t a great car...
Parts aren’t such a big thing but there are a few things to watch out for when buying these motors ( GS or coupe )

It’s a good time to buy imo. Push for a good deal , it’s a buyers market!

This car has been discussed before, used to be @amyzoe car, nothing wrong with the bonnet, just not been shut properly, there is a catch each side as opposed to one central one. If you want to know more about it send @amyzoe a pm, its a very well sorted car apparently.

Just to confirm, this was my car, there is nothing wrong with the bonnet as said by the last post. The car was in excellent condition when I traded it in,no stone chips, leather in great condition and everything worked. As with any second hand car I suggest you get an inspection for peace of mind as I am no mechanic !!

Give Richard Grace a call to get the low down on the two types.

I have had both and there is no good/bad between them but they meet a different need... one very sporty the other more of a GT, so you need to know how you intend to use it.

Ther are now >12 years old so get it checked out by a good indi.

Good luck and go for the car you want not the one you are told you want.

My 3200 occasionally did that, nearside catch sometimes didn't lock. ( One each side, and a safety catch near the center.)

If you fancy dipping your toe into the water of Maserati ownership and don’t want to commit too deep financially at first, take a look at the 4200 coupe that Midlifecrisis is selling.

Midlife is being a bit generous. I had that when I bought a Porsche.
