Some people on here keep saying “Essex is God’s County”. Not sure which god they’re talking about but I take it it’s meant as a compliment.
One of the Norse ones. We did have a spot of bother with the Vikings about 1,100 years ago, and I’m pretty sure they left Thor behind. In fact, I’m fairly certain he’s been hiding in my exhaust recently, too.

Horses for courses I guess, but if you are a true petrol head you should get most brands offerings esp their sports range.

I've had a couple of lengthy conversations with Lotus and they do not have ANY pricing information at this stage but when I suggested 90k for a manual V6 with a few goodies I was told there was an expectation it would be less than that.

In terms of delivery, the launch cars will be a standard spec (i.e. no choice) and then customer builds expected Q2 22 onwards. Then the 4 pot will be launched.

I have also been told (I wasn't sworn to secrecy so am assuming this is not confidential) that a car will be coming to UK dealers in September with test cars hopefully being available to journalists at the end of this year.

I am still undecided ....the blocker being the cr4ppy colour options.

Probably will wait for the ragtop launch.

The V6 one is £90k mind
If that is the case then it's a huge price difference between the two models, not sure I would pay it given how well Lotus has made four cylinder engines work for it in the past.

It's probably best to also remember that this applies to Masers too; they're quite niche and not as popular as many other alternatives. Those that like them generally "love" them. Some people have one for a little while and declare it the worst car they've ever owned.

Too true. It's always interesting to see what people say on PH about Masers based on limited experience. I had a Boxster S years ago and found it amazingly bland and uninteresting. Could not work out what all the fuss was about.

I got £90k from someone who was at the event but subsequent poking about has revealed a figure around £75k, which sounds a little more reasonable.

Maybe 75 is the base price but to my eyes it needs the black pack, black wheels and interior trim upgrades and the dealer is telling me that 90 is more like it.

Of course NOBODY knows.

Interestingly, the configurator allows you to spec a 4 pot manual ;)

Very personally, I loved the 3 Evora’s I had, but they just didn’t have the quality of interior the car needed for the price, and the exterior design wasn’t quite well enough resolved.

The Alpine has similar issues to the Evora - the design doesn’t work consistently from all angles, and aspects of the interior are sub par on quality. However, like the Evora, it’s is a fantastic car to drive.

But whilst the Emira is very similar in size and shape, this time it looks like Lotus have nailed both the exterior design and the interior quality. The interior and exterior design looks different league, particularly at the suggested price point. So, if they have also improved on the driving qualities of the Evora, Lotus should be on to a winner.

And I think the price point is just right. There are many more people who will spend £60-70k on a car like this, than will spend £100k+ or even £200k+. And at this price point it will be a car people will be able to afford to drive, eg Evoras have proved to be nowhere near as price sensitive to mileage as your typical sports/super car.
What's been going on with used evoras mate? Been going up last few years, or just coincidence that the ones I look at now seem more expensive?

It will be interesting to see if Lotus tries to play the Ferrari game of gauging how much garnish you want to put on the car before they decide whether they can find allocation; list price means nothing as there is a minimum extras spend price list under the counter.

Dealer has told me that they are allocating the position in the queue based solely on the date and time stamp for the credit card deposit. Of course I don't believe them :)

Really, I have had lots of 4 cylinder Lotus and never had an issue with any of them.

You wouldn’t expect issue from the AMG unit as they have been a reputation for reliability ?

Back in the day when I drove SLs and lived in home counties I remember going into order a new R230 SL500 and the dealer showed me the list in date order. I was about number 50 and there were some well known names near the top. Managed to get one elsewhere, drove it for a while and moved it on for a modest loss as I could not part with my 3200 which was a much more special car but we all know that.

Sorry I meant that to be a positive for the 4 cylinders. My 340R was great in that regard but it was no faster than my mate's de-catted regular Elise.

I think it just basic supply and demand. Instead of flooding the market, like Mclaren and Ferrari, increasingly, are doing so that depreciation is huge and inevitable, after the initial launch surfeit, Lotus has managed supply volumes well. Plus it has continued to evolve the car into an ever better product which has made the limited supply of earlier cars even more sought after.
