Hello Folks

I always loved the sound of even the 4.2 litre engine of that italian beauty. Two weeks ago i instantly fell in love with a beautiful, very low mileage 2009 Verde Goodwood colored S version that i couldn't resist! Her name is 'Diva' and i enjoy every minute of even seeing her not to mention to drive her...

Thanks for the warm welcome! Yes it was definitely the heart that made this descision!

It has been at the local Maserati dealer right after the purchase for the two year inspection and according to them there's not a single technical issue. I've read that the 4.2 litres engine did have some technical problems with the variator valves, does this apply as well to the 4.7 litre?

Only on early cars so any engine (4.2 or 4.7) with an engine number of <148697 is potentially susceptible to variator failure.

Not in but close to the Alps in Switzerland :cool:

According to the Maserati salesman a green Maserati can't be sold here! Obviously my opinion is different, the color combination is simply lovely!

@Phil
Thanks for this info. Since the car is an early version, what are the signs if variator failure occurs?

Clatter clatter clatter on startup f about 5 seconds.... eventually the timing will be out and the car will fail to start.

Someone will be along shortly to post up the engine number sequence so you can see if your car may be susceptible.

Lovely car by the way - never names my cars but to be fair “Diva” sums up these cars up nicely !
